Blast From The Past - Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner - Black

Sunday, 31 March 2013

  Hey Dolls.
This was one of the posts I did when I first started my blog, so I thought I would review it again. (:
A few years ago I decided to switch from pencil eyeliner but I have never been that good at applying liquid eyeliner, so I spotted this pen style eyeliner in Superdrug & thought I'd give it a go.
Collection 2000 Extreme Felt Tip liner promises to be fast drying, easy to apply and long-wearing, it has simple, no fuss packaging. Plain black with product details printed in silver. The nib has just the right amount of flex in it - not so hard that it hurts to apply, not so soft that it will fall apart and splay. It's really easy to get a thin, precise line with this liner or thicker line if you feel a bit more bold. It dries really quickly, it only takes a couple of seconds. So I can apply my mascara straight away.
It lasts all day, doesn't fade & doesn't transfer on to the rest of my lid.  It has become my holy grail eyeliner, this is my second or third one & I will be re purchasing this until it is discontinued [hopfully never] I defintely recommend this product, It is a amazing bargain at £2.99 for 6ml of product.

You can also get this liner in Purple, Blue & Teal.

Have you tried the Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner? What do you think?

An Introduction to makeup | Welcome to the wonderful world of beauty

Photo from weheartit, edited by me.

Hey Dolls.
I often write posts about beauty thinking my readers will know exactly what I'm talking about but what if you have just started getting into make up & you wanted some advice on what products you actually need. I have a lot of make up, I don't need it all, I sometimes think what it would be like just to have one of everything, instead of 5 or 6. It seems perfect but then again with every brand coming out with amazing products left, right & center I think it would be quite hard not to buy it all to try out.

So instead of jumping into the foundation section, I would start of with a BB cream, it looks more natural & wont be to heavy on your skin. I recommend the Superdrug 5 in 1 BB Cream I had a couple of samples of this & I loved it, it conceals imperfections, boosts radiance and smooths the complexion. With SPF 15, it helps to protect against sun damage and premature skin aging whilst also providing 24 hour hydration.

If you do need concealer try the Natural Collection Cover Up Stick, I don't really use concealer but if I do need a little, I always use this. It covers all of my blemishes & dark circles without using to much product.

If you have oily skin or just want a matte finish, use the Collection 2000 Pressed Powder, it leaves a very natural finish, doesn't look cakey & helps my makeup to last longer

On to blush, Its really important to find the right shade for you or find one that suites most skin tones. I recommend the Revlon Matte Powder Blush, in perfectly peach, it gives a nice natural finish & brightens up your complexion. You don't have to use a lot to get a nice colour payoff.

For eyeshadow, I recommend the MUA Heaven & Earth Palette, it has 12 lovely natural shades that look amazing swept across the lid & it lasts all day without you having to re apply it.

Mascara is a tough one, there is so many different kinds, think about what you want from a mascara. Do you want it to give more volume or length to your lashes or do you want it to do both? Do you want a waterproof mascara? Superdrug always has an amazing range of mascara's so have a little look around & see which one you think you need to achieve what you want. Hello Kitty Volume Mascara is great for volume, Rimmel Extra Superlash Mascara is good for lengthening & NYC Big Bold Mascara is good for both.

For lips, I recommend Nivea Lip Butter - Raspberry Rose, it melts instantly into your lips leaving them feeling soft and smooth. It has Shea Butter and Almond Oil that works to intensively nourish, providing long-lasting moisture. It has a subtle pink tint & leaves a very pretty shine.

So that's 7 products to get you started, I hope this helped to make it less over whelming.
Let me know if you enjoyed reading this post (:

Ebay Bargain | Tophat, Glasses & Mustache Necklace

Friday, 29 March 2013

Hey Dolls.
I have been really into mustache items for ages, so when I came across this necklace I just had to have it. I love the detail on the hat & the mustache & I really like the bronze finish. It was a bargain at 99p with free delivery, I was a bit worried that it was a scam but I recieved my item today & it is amazing quality. As it was from Hong Kong it did take a while to be delivered but I was willing to wait. It was dispatched the day after I ordered it & it took just over a month to arrive. It didn't actually seem that long, I thought it had only been 2 maybe 3 weeks max. I have no complaints, it is so amazing & I plan to wear it with everything.

You can purchase the necklace here.

Charles Worthington Dry Shampoo

Thursday, 28 March 2013

 Hey Dolls.
I had recently ran out of my all time favourite VO5 Refresh me quick dry shampoo so I made a quick order on Superdrug & I decided to try a different one. I was having a little look through the travel section for a mini mouthwash to keep in my "out & about" make up bag & I spotted this, I have never tried anything from Charles Worthington before as I generally stick to what I know works for me but it was only £1.99 so I thought I'd give it a go. I have used it 3-4 times & I'm actually really pleased with it. It smells really nice, it has a very fresh scent which is something I need in a dry shampoo, It doesn't leave a white residue & it gets rid of any excess oil really quickly without needing to use alot of product. It leaves my hair feeling refreshed & gives it alot of texture & volume. I will definitely be purchasing this again, even though it hasn't taken first place over the VO5 dry shampoo, it has definitely earned a place in my bag to give me a little boost throughout the day.

You can purchase the Charles Worthington Dry Shampoo here.

Have you tried this dry shampoo? What do you think?
Also What is your favourite brand of dry shampoo? (:

NOTD | Barry M Textured Nail Paint - Ridley Road

Wednesday, 27 March 2013

Hey Dolls.
I love Barry M Nail Paints and when I saw they had a few new exciting releases in Superdrug I couldn't wait to get my hands on some to give them a go, especially this Textured Nail Paint in Ridley Road. It instantly caught my eye & I knew I just had to have it.
I wasn't really sure how well it was going to apply as it is quite grainy but I was incredibly impressed. It glided on evenly, dried with a few minutes & there wasn't a need for a second coat. It dries matte & the texture doesn't disappear if you use a top coat which was something I was dreading.

Nail Polish hasn't dried fully, so it looks a little uneven.

The colour of this Nail Paint 'Ridley Road' is absolutely gorgeous! Its a pastel minty green shade & I think it looks amazing against my pale skin.  The textured effect leaves small raised bumps like you have tiny bits of grit in your polish but surprisingly it is quite addictive to touch. As I'm sitting at my boyfriends desk, typing away I keep catching myself touching it. It is quite an odd feeling but it fascinates me to no end. I have read complaints that it gets dirty really quickly but I haven't found that, I use antibacterial hand gel all the time before doing my make up & afterwards & generally throughout the day as I use public transport so mine still looks as good as it did when I applied it.
I haven't had any chipping so far & its been around 2-3days which I'm extremely happy with.

All in all this has to be my new favourite polish & it is definitely worth the hype its been getting.
It is so affordable at £3.99 & Superdrug is always having offers on Barry M polishes.

Have you tried the textured nail paints? Which one do you love?

Guest Post | MUA Wishlist

Tuesday, 26 March 2013

Hey Everyone!

I am Julianne from Julz' Obsessions and today I will be taking the place of Ash and posting on Rambles of a Beauty Addict.

I am a huge fan of MUA- it is definitely my favourite drugstore brand- from the price to the quality- they get it right pretty much every time. They are constantly launching new products which results in me having a wishlist the length of my arm.

I got the Cream Blush in Dolly for Christmas and I absolutely love it so I really want to try more shades. I'm not usually a big fan of glosses, but the pigment of the Intense Glosses looks amazing- especially the red. I don't wear primer on a day to day basis, but after reading a rave review of the Matte Perfect Primer I feel a huge urge to get it! I always seem to find myself lacking when it comes to makeup brushes and since MUA's are so affordable I think they would be great to try. The Power Pout looks like a dupe for the Clinique Chubby Sticks and a cheaper version of the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains so for £3 they look like they're worth a go. With the MUA mascaras I've tried, I've not had a great experience, but I am gluten for punishment and want to try this new one. I thought the quad bronzer looks nice too. Finally, I have been hunting for this Highlighting Powder for weeks and its sold out everywhere- it looks so pretty- I need it!

What are your MUA must haves?

Nivea Visage Young Facial Scrub

Sunday, 24 March 2013

 Hey Dolls.
I have nearly ran out of my Simply Pure Face Scrub & I really wanted to try something different so I had a little look on Fragrance Direct & came across the Nivea Visage Young Smooth It Mild Exfoliating Scrub. I love Nivea products & it was only £1.99. I have only used it 2-3 times & I am already in love, my skin has been drying out quite a bit because it is still absolutely freezing here in Wales. My skin feels so soft & hydrated after using this, its quite thick & has small orange beads to get deep into your pores. It has a lovely smell, it is a very fresh, light scent which is something I like in my skin care products. Unlike most scrubs I have used I don't feel like I need to apply half a tub of moisturiser afterwards, I now only use a tiny bit. All in all my skin feels amazing & even my boyfriend has commented on how much softer my face feels. This has quickly become my new favourite face scrub to use & I will definitely be purchasing this again in the future.

Have you tried this scrub? What do you think?

NOTD | Barry M Nail Paint Ridley Road & Berry Purple

Saturday, 23 March 2013

Hey Dolls.
I mentioned in my Cardiff Haul that I bought some new Barry M nail polishes & I picked up a texured nail paint in Ridley Road which is a gorgeous pastel minty green shade. I didn't want it on all my nails just incase I didn't like it so I picked another pastel Barry M colour for it to go with. I chose the Barry M Nail Paint in Berry Purple whis is a gorgeous lilac shade.
I used Ridley Road on my accent finger & Berry Purple on all the rest. I feel like this is a very spring/summer nail look & it gives a pop of colour to any outfit.

I really like Ridley Road, it felt quite strange at first but now it has become on of my favourite nail polishes. It was £3.99 but when I bought it the Barry M was 2 for £6, I'm not sure if that offer is still on. I have had the Berry Purple shade for quite a while & it is the perfect pastel lilac shade for spring/summer or if you're like me winter to. :)

Full review of the Barry M Textured Nail Paint coming soon.

I think I will be doing this nail look all throughout spring & summer.

What is your favourite Spring/Summer nail look? Do you have a favourite Barry M Polish?

W7 Africa Bronzer

Thursday, 21 March 2013

Hey Dolls.
I have recently mentioned this in the Whats in my make up bag post & as I have had it for so long & loved using it so much, I thought it deserved a post of its own.
I have had this for months & I haven't even hit pan. I usually use it for blush as its quite shimmery but in the summer it does lovely as a bronzer.
It is amazingly pigmented & you only need to use the tiniest bit, it blends really well & it doesn't look harsh on my pale skin. It has a dark brown, light taupe & a bright pink which are made into a leopard print pattern. It comes in a square box packaging & a little brush which is amazingly soft & applies the bronzer perfectly. It has quite a pleasant smell & is only around £3 for 8g of product. Bargain!

Whats your perfect bronzer?

Dainty Doll Blushers

Wednesday, 20 March 2013

Hey Dolls.
I ordered some Dainty Doll blushers from Fragrance Direct as they were £1.99. Bargain!
I have always wanted to try them since Nicola Roberts released the range but I just never got round to getting some as they are on the pricey side but as they were so cheap on Fragrance Direct I may have used it to justify buying more make up. I first picked up Money Talks & Orange County Girl, I loved them so much I had to get some more but as everyone was going Dainty Doll crazy I only managed to get one of the ones I wanted which was You Are My Sunshine. They are all beautiful shades that match my skin tone perfectly, they are so pigmented, easy to apply & don't need a lot of blending which is usually a problem I have with other blushers. You only need to use a tiny bit, so I'm sure they are going to last a very long time.

Photo with natural light.
 Photo with un-natural light.
You get 7g of product from the powder blushers & 5g from the cream blushers.

Money Talks is a beautiful  extremely cool toned taupe-y brown with fine shimmer. When swatched the shimmer doesn't translate too much and instead gives more of a satin effect. I have only used this for blush but I think it would be an amazing shade to contour with.

You Are My Sunshine is a lovely peachy shade with subtle gold shimmer, I have read a lot of bloggers compare it to Nars Orgasm, which I have always wanted to try but a dupe is just as good. :) It looks very natural on the skin & the gold shimmer acts as a highlight so you have a lovely glow when the light hits your face. I have had quite a few compliments while wearing this blush.

Orange County Girl is very simlair to You Are My Sunshine but in a cream version. It is the first cream blush I've had, I didn't know if I would like it but I was pleasantly surprised. It feels really light on the skin & blends really well. The gold shimmer is a lot more subtle than You Are My Sunshine. I definitely prefer the powder blush but for £1.99 I can't complain.

All in all I have really like these blushers & I probably will get some more.
I know they are still available on Boots website but they are currently out of stock on Fragrance Direct.

What's your favourite Dainty Doll product?

Hey Dolls.
I have been lusting after these items for a a while so I thought I'd share them with you. :)

Barry M Basecoat, Topcoat & Nail hardener

Saturday, 16 March 2013

Hey Dolls.
As I have gotten more into painting my nails I wanted something that would stop them from chipping so easily & something to protect my nails from staining.
I was having a little browse on Amazon for a pastel Barry M polish & came across this.
It was £2.99 which is a complete bargain for an all in one product.
It has definitely prevented staining & it makes my polish stay without chipping for a week or so but I don't really think it has made my nails stronger but as I didn't buy it for that purpose I really can't complain. This is my second bottle so far & I am incredibly impressed with it.
I can leave my polish on for a week without having to touch it up or re do it.
It makes my nails smooth & gives an incredible shine.
It does have quite a strong smell which I'm not so fussed on but it does fade rather quickly & considering how well it does the job & how affordable it is, I really can't complain.
I use this everytime I paint my nails & it lasts for a really long time, I've had this bottle for about 3-4 months & I still have over half left.

You can buy Barry M  Basecoat, Topcoat & Nail hardener from Amazon or Superdrug.

What I've Bought #3

Friday, 15 March 2013

Hey Dolls.
As Matt & I went to Cardiff Tuesday for some lunch & a bit of shopping I thought I'd do a haul post for you as I did pick up quite a few nice things :)

Okay so lets get started.

So first we went into Lush & I bought the Mint Julip Lip Scrub, I have done a post just about that already so if you want to read it click here.

Next we went into Primark.
The first thing I bought was a pair of sunglasses, I have wanted to get a pair like these for ages & they were a bargain at £2.

I saw these lovely nude & cream quilted flats & I just had to have them as they were £2 reduced from £8!

The next thing I picked up was this lovely speckled effect top, it has a high low effect, rolled up sleeves  & is so soft. It was only £4. They also had it in cream.

I picked up some plain black skinny jeans, they felt like such good quality & was only £7! Bargain!

I picked up some jeggings, I don't usually wear these but I tried them on & they fitted amazingly! They were also £7.

I picked up a dark grey hoodie from the mens section. I was going to get the womens one but this one was a little more baggier & longer. It was a bargain at £10.

I bought this lovely blue & pink floral brolly. I am forever buying new ones as mine break all the time. I honestly don't know what happens to them. It was only £4 & I just couldn't leave Primark without it.

I saw these leopard print boots, They weren't in the right place so I had to find them to get my size & for £8 I was so happy but I had a little surprise at the checkout they were on offer for £5!

I got this burgandy top from the mens section, I really like the rolled up sleeves & it was so soft & felt like amazing quaility. It was only £4 so I wished I picked up more than one.

The last thing I got was the Hello Hello Mustache Cushion. I have been loving mustache related things lately & at £4 I just had to have it.

Then we went into Superdrug.
I picked up 2 Barry M Gelly Polish's in Blackberry & Plum & Matt bought me a Gelly Polish in Watermelon & Barry M Texured polish in Ridley Road. They were on offer for 2 for £6.

Matt also picked me up Breaking Dawn Part 2, it was in pretty much in every shop we went into. It was only £9.99 which I think is pretty good. I watched this last night & it is AMAZING!

Matt also picked me up these lovely little earrings as a surprise, Lovely little dangly red hearts & Pink & Silver Flowers. They were on sale for £1.99 each which I think is such a bargain.

I picked up these lovely set of earrings. I was drawn to the hearts more than anything as they are lovely light shades. The roses are really beautiful to & for £1.99 for 6 earrings I really couldn't resist.

A little bit of a boring purchase but I needed a new sponge as my one was pretty much falling apart & the one I kept at my boyfriends house got dragged into his cats litter because I had it on the radiator drying. So I saw these, they are quite small but for £1 you can't really complain.

Another slightly boring purchase, I was nearly out of cotton pads & facial wipes so I picked them up while I was there. I opted for the oval pads as they are slightly bigger and maybe then I wont have to go through so many, they were only £1.69 & I love these cucumber facial wipes, they are incredible & such a bargain at 99p.

Then we went into The Works.
I only picked up one thing which was a new notebook, it has a vintage style & it was £1.99 from £7.99. It has alot of paper so it should last me a while.

Then we went into Game.
I bought Matt 1200 Xbox Gamer Points, they just give you a receipt with a code on it. It was only £9.99 which I think is pretty good.

& the last shop we went into was Savers.
I found this amazing baked eyeshadow. It is so pretty & amazingly pigmented! It was a bargain for £1!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. :)
I don't want any of you lovely people to think I'm bragging & I am very grateful for all the things Matt bought me. We had a lovely day together :D

Have you bought any lovely things lately?

Some snaps I took;
From L-R; Me & Matt sitting on the train, In Cardiff being blinded by the sun, Lunch & the best Caramel Frappe ever & The sky as we were coming home :)
