Orly Bonder Rubberized BaseCoat

Saturday, 31 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I'm going to be talking about a product that I received in my Boots Advent Calender that at first I hated. As soon as I opened it, the smell was horrendously strong to the point where I started to get a headache so I put it away & decided that at some point in the future I would try it again so I did last week & I thought I'd share my thoughts with you.

The scent is still incredibly strong, a lot stronger than anything else I own. I do tend to get extra speedy when I use this so I don't have to smell it for to long. The brush is quite thin, it would be nicer if the brush was a little thicker but it does the job nicely. The bonder applies smoothly & dries to a rather tacky glossy finish. I have found that my nail polishes apply better & stay chip free for longer. I have heard a few complaints that the bonder doesn't stop staining but so far I haven't experienced it with any of my polishes.

All in all, the bonder is brilliant at making polish last longer but the scent just really puts me off. I want to use this bottle as I wouldn't want it to get wasted but I think it will be my very last resort product.

Have you tried Orly's Bonder? What are your thoughts?

Soap & Glory Hand Food

Thursday, 29 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I thought I'd talk about a product that has been on my wishlist for some time but for some reason I never got round to picking it up. When I won Karen's giveaway, she very kindly included some extra goodies - one of them being the Soap & Glory Hand Food.

The hand cream comes packaged in a pink retro chic squeezy tube. I have the 50ml version, it is the perfect size to pop into your bag while your out & about.

The hand cream is quite thick but feels light & luxurious on the skin. It absorbs almost instantly, doesn't leave my hands feeling greasy or sticky & smells divine. The scent is very typical of Soap & Glory - super sweet & girly. It can be quite overpowering at first but once it has absorbed into the hands it becomes very subtle. You only need a teeny tiny amount, so I can see this tube lasting quite a while. I usually slather it on before I go to bed so I wake up with beautifully moisturised hands.

All in all, I am really impressed with this hand cream. It leaves my hands incredibly soft & moisturised. I can see it being a staple in the winter.

Are you a fan of Soap & Glory? What is your favourite hand cream?

Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser

Tuesday, 27 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
If you follow me on twitter then you will know from my rage tweets that when it gets warmer, my skin gets oily in certain places. It never used to & I really have no idea how to deal with it. For the majority of my life, my skin was just dry...which means nearly all of the products I have are aimed at dry skin. So, when Escentual kindly sent me a cleanser aimed at oily/blemished skin.. I was incredibly excited. I have been testing it out for the past week, so I thought I'd share my thoughts with you.

The Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser* is a fragrance & soap free, clear gel. It is aimed at acne prone/blemished skin & gently eliminates excess sebum while removing dirt & makeup. The cleanser lathers well, so you only need to use a small amount. After removing the cleanser with a muslin cloth & a quick splash of cold water, my skin is left feeling clean & soft without being irritated or feeling dry. I have never suffered with acne but I do have quite a lot of redness & a few blemishes & since using this cleanser they have both improved immensely. My skin looks a lot clearer & I have noticed that my skin stays oil free for longer, I don't have to worry about powdering or using blotting sheets throughout the day.

I have recently started using a teeny bit of the cleanser on my eyelids because they are constantly oily but the warm weather has made it worse & not even primer is keeping my liner/eyeshadow in place. The cleanser has not only reduced the oil but has made my eye make up last so much longer.

All in all, I adore this cleanser. I feel so much more confident about my skin, I can now rock the no make up face without worrying about redness, blemishes or oily patches. I have noticed that my make up not only lasts longer but still looks flawless towards the end of the day.

You can purchase the cleanser here.

Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast Lipbalm

Saturday, 24 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
One of the goodies in the Easter swap I did with Jen was the Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast Lipbalm. As you may know I am a huge lipbalm fan, especially yummy scented ones.

The lipbalm has a very sweet & fruity scent/taste. It tastes like what I'd imagine raspberry lemonade would taste like....DELICIOUS! A few of the ingredients it contains are coconut oil & jojoba which moisturises & conditions the lips. It also contains vitamin c & e as well as a SPF15 to protect them from the harshest of weathers. It is one of those lip products that basically melt into your lips & leave them feeling hydrated & super soft. I have noticed an improvement with the condition of my lips - they're less dry & lip products apply a lot smoother without the need to exfoliate beforehand.

Are you a fan of Blistex?

Katy Perry Killer Queen & Killer Queen Oh So Sheer

Thursday, 22 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
Killer Queen & Killer Queen Oh So Sheer are two of my favourite perfumes to date. Not only are the bottles amazing, the scents are like nothing else I own & well..my boyfriend always compliments me when I wear them :3

Both perfumes come housed in a glass bottle with a gold lid shaped like a crown. To me, the shape of the bottle reminds me of a brilliantly cut diamond. The only difference between bottles is that Killer Queen is a deep red & Killer Queen Oh So Sheer is lilac. The bottles are amazing but they do take up a considerable amount of space - especially since they have to be displayed on their side, so I like to keep them in the boxes.

Killer Queen:

Top notes

Dark Plum, Wild Berry, Bergamot
Heart notes
Red Velvet Flower, Rainbow Plumeria, Natural Jasmine Sambac

Base Notes
Cashmeran, Natural Patchouli Heart, Liquid Praline

Killer Queen has such a sweet but sexy & sophisticated scent. It lasts for hours on the skin & even if you tend to be over generous with how much you spray - it doesn't become overpowering. I think Killer Queen would be more of a Autumn/Winter scent for most people but I can't resist wearing it all year round.
 Killer Queen Oh So Sheer:
 Top notes
Purple Plum, Elderberries Mulberry & Blackberry
Heart notes
Purple Freesia, Rainbow Plumeria, Red Velvet Flower, Purple Lilac
Base notes
Cashmeran , Natural Patchouli Heart, Liquid Praline
Killer Queen Oh So Sheer has more of a sweet, fruity scent. It is definitely more of a spring/summer scent as it is much lighter but I have no problem wearing it all year round. Like Killer Queen, It lasts for hours on the skin & doesn't become overpowering, no matter how much you spray.
All in all, both perfumes are incredible. They share some of the same notes but are completely different. They work so well all year round & even though the bottles take up quite a lot of space - they are amazingly designed.
Side Note: My dad likes the scents of both perfumes & lets just say that is a first. When spraying any other perfume he usually says & I quote "Ashley, it smells like Boots the chemist in here" or "It smells like a knocking shop" -.- So...they must be nice..right? haha
Are you a fan of Katy Perry's perfumes?
What is your go to scent?

Orange Ombré

Tuesday, 20 May 2014

Light Grey Tee - Primark
Dark Blue Skinnies - Primark
Cream & Orange Ombre Cardigan - Asos
Black Flats - New Look
Black Satchel - Primark
Necklace - Primark
Sunglasses - Primark

As you can see I am loving Primark lately, everything is such great quality & so comfy. The satchel is incredible, it holds so many things & has a few compartments so I can separate things accordingly. I also like that it comes with a handle & a long strap to put on your shoulder. The cardigan from Asos is great for all weathers, it is quite thick but as it's open knit it doesn't get to warm.

My hair has been washed this morning so it looks a little lifeless that & it is long overdue for a cut..which I will do...soon.

Loving Lately #3

Saturday, 17 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I thought I would talk about a few products that wow me everytime I use them.

The Body Shop Mango & Chocomania Lip Butters & Honeymania Balm.
These have to be the most amazing things I have used on my lips. They are really thick & solid but when they come in contact body heat, they instantly melt. It feels so lovely on the lips - really hydrating & softening. The scents are also incredible, they don't smell artifical at all. I think I definitely prefer the lip butters but the balm is also really nice.

Benefit They're Real Mascara.
I adore this mascara! I have really fair & short lashes, so the fact that this not only is incredibly black but lengthens really well. It also creates an amazing curls & holds it all day. It also doesn't get clumpy, smudge or flake no matter what. The brush is also really good, it has a little spiky bit on the end that makes getting the little lashes & separates really well.

What are you loving lately?

Blog Sale Bargains #6

Thursday, 15 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
I have recently found some great bargains on a few blog sales, so I thought I'd share them with you.

The first thing I picked up was the Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon - Plum Russian for £2 from Laura's blog. I have tried it but I'm not sure how I feel about it. Although I will say that the colour is gorgeous!

A few days..maybe a week later, I spotted Charlotte having a blog sale. A few of things I wanted were already taken but I then spotted the Lush Eau Roma Toner Water for only £1! I adore Lush & I have heard great things about it..so I couldn't say no. I have used this once or twice - the scent is lovely & it feels really refreshing on the skin.

Then, on twitter I spotted that Claudia was selling a few bits & bobs on her blog..so I obviously had to have a look. I picked up three things - a mini Clinique Cleansing Mousse £1, 17 Photo Flawless Primer 50p & a mini Smashbox Photo Finish Primer 50p. I have tried the Smashbox Primer before & I really like it but the other two items I am yet to try. I have swatched them both & they feel really nice on the skin.

Lastly, I came across Erin's blog sale. Again, a few of the things I wanted were already taken but I spotted some Soap & Glory goodies. After doing a little research, I picked up the Fab Pore Moisturiser £4. I've used this once & so far I like it but I didn't wear any make up over it, so I'm going to have to see how it works under make up before I make up my mind about it.

So, that's everything I've picked up from blog sales lately. I will be testing everything properly before doing a review on the blog.

Have you tried any of these products? Have you picked up any blog sale bargains lately?

Wishlist #26 - The Ebay Edit

Tuesday, 13 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
I am a huge Ebay addict! I love finding amazing bargains. I have purchased quite a few things lately but there are still some things I have yet to purchase so I thought I'd do a wishlist post.

Black Studded Bag £15.99 - This has the most expensive item but I have been after a bag like this for so long, it looks really well made & I love how slouchy it looks.
Black Studded Loafers £10.99 +£3.99 p+p - Again I have been after a pair of these for a while. They are slightly more expensive than I wanted to pay but they are the nicest ones I have found.

Aztec Spike Necklace £2.99 - I have been after some statement necklaces to jazz up plain tee's & whatnot. I noticed this one & fell in love. It love the chain detailing & the spikes & it looks like it would be a decent length.

Curved Metal Choker £1.29 - I have seen a lot of people rocking this necklace & usually it wouldn't be something I would go for but I just love it. It looks amazing with just a casual tee or a smarter outfit.

Black Cat Eye Sunglasses £3.49 - I usually tend to wear the same sunglasses all the time but now that it is slowly creeping into the warm weather months I wanted to add a different pair to jazz up some outfits. I really like the cat eye look but I am so bad at it with eyeliner so I'll let the sunglasses do the work.

So, these are my current wants from Ebay. Have you came across any bargains lately?

Let It Glow

Saturday, 10 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
At the moment, I am all about glowly skin. I decided to pick out a few products I have been using lately to achieve that glow. I have talked about all of these products before, so I'm going to keep it short & sweet..well I'll try. (:

Mua Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter.
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know how much I adore this product. Not only is the design absolutely amazing, it gives such a subtle radiant glow with little product needed. On my skintone, it comes up a pale pink but it looks so natural. I really think it would suit pretty much any skintone, it is such a beautiful product.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - Light Porcelain.
This is one of my favourite foundations at the moment. First of all, it is such an amazing colour match - you can't even tell I'm wearing any foundation..so it's really great for those 'no make up make up' days. It does contain a little shimmer but it doesn't show up when applied - it makes the skin look more awake & naturally radiant.

Soap & Glory Glow All Out.
A fairly new product but it really is incredible. I like to use it over a blush to give it a little something extra but it can be used as an all over face powder if you are very light handed or as a regular highlight. It is a peachy pink toned highlight & is quite shimmery but once blended it creates such a lovely glowy effect without being over the top.

YSL Touch Eclat.
This is the product I reach for when I don't want to use a lot of powder on my skin. It is a very pink toned highlighter but once blended it leaves a gorgeous glow on the skin. It is quite a subtle glow but if you want something a little extra, it can always be built up. I occasionally use this under foundation, to make it look a little more natural.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Primer.
This is an amazing primer for an all over glow but if I'm using the Rimmel wake me up foundation, I will use it as a liquid highlight instead. It does come out white but once blended, it has such a gorgeous pearlecent sheen to it - it really wakes up the skin & makes it look so radiant. You only need a tiny amount, as it does really go a long way.

If I'm using any of these products to highlight, which is the majority of them - I like to apply it to my cheekbones, brow bone, bridge of the nose, cupids bow [occasionally] & I will use a powder highlight on the inner corners.

I really love the look of glowy skin, I haven't quite mastered it yet but I am really impressed with the result I get when using these products.

What products do you use to achieve the perfect glow?

Lush Lips

Thursday, 8 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
A major part of my everyday routine is to make my lips are soft, smooth & moisturised. I suffer with dry lips & more often that not, it's a huge pain in the ass but there are two products - one more recently acquired that the other that have become daily staples.

 Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub
This scrub is amazing! It smells & tastes exactly like a mix between salty & sweet popcorn - which is amazing because I adore both. The scrub is very fine & works well on both dry & moist lips. It contains sugar, sea salt, coconut & jojoba oil to buff away any nasty bits & leave your lips feeling smooth & soft.

Lush Honey Trap Lip Balm
This lip balm smells incredible! It contains Honey, White Chocolate, Shea Butter, Vanilla & Beeswax - aswell as a few other things. It is quite solid but once it comes in contact with skin, your body heat melts it. Making it a utter dream to work into the lips, it leaves them feeling smooth, soft, moisturised & protected all day long.

My lips have never felt better. I haven't been using the lip balm long but I have seen a huge improvement in the softness of my lips.
I now have three flavours of the lip scrub, Mint Julips is still a firm favourite but Popcorn has definitely come close to taking the top spot.

If you suffer with dry lips, I definitely recommend these two products. They are both made with 100% Natural Ingredients & do not test on animals.

Are you a fan of Lush? What lip scrub is your favourite?

Wishlist #25 - The Asos Edit

Tuesday, 6 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
I adore Asos & occasionally spend my time scrolling through their website to see what goodies they have. More often than not, this ends with me having a few bits & bobs on my wishlist. So I thought I'd share what I currently love with you all. (:

Bourjois 123 Perfect Cc Cream - Ivory

Are you a fan of Asos? What's on your wishlist?

Soap & Glory Cosmetics

Saturday, 3 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
I not so recently picked up a few Soap & Glory products while they were on 3for2. I've only every tried some of their shower bits & bobs, so I was super excited to try their make up out. I picked up One Heck Of A Blot, Glow All Out & Kick Ass Concealer. I have been using them nearly everyday, so I thought it was about time I shared my thoughts.

I adore the retro chic packaging! They may be the prettiest thing I own. I also adore the embossed detailing on One Heck Of A Blot & Glow All Out. It doesn't last long but it's such a nice touch.

Soap & Glory Blot Powder comes packaged in a black plastic compact. It feels sturdy, comes with a large mirror & powder puff.

Soap & Glory Luminizing Radiance Face Powder comes packaged in a white cardboard compact. The cardboard is quite thick so it does seem rather sturdy. This also comes with a large mirror.

Soap & Glory Correcter, Concealer & Setting Powder Trio comes packaged in a black plastic compact with two compartments. At the top it contains the setting powder, which flips open to reveal the correcter & concealer. This comes with a small mirror on the lid of the correcter/concealer & a small powder puff.

Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Powder.
This is a finely milled, translucent, mattifying powder. It keeps any unwanted shine at bay & sets make up quite nicely. It doesn't leave my skin looking powdery/cakey & has no detectable scent. I like to use my Real Techniques Powder Brush to tap it onto the skin as that way it doesn't disturb any of my dry patches. I do feel that when using this powder my skin feels incredibly soft & my make up lasts a lot longer.

Soap & Glory Glow All Out Luminizing Radiance Face Powder.
This is a shimmery peach powder that can be used as an all over face powder or just on the high points of the face. It looks very dark in the pan but if lightly applied, it creates a very natural looking glow. It also looks beautiful applied over a peach/coral blush to give it that something extra. I apply this with my Real Techniques Blush Brush, I find it perfect for specific highlighting & adding an all over glow.

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer.
This is a three piece flaw camouflage kit - it contains a salmon toned correcter, a concealer in light/medium depending on what you choose & a translucent setting powder. The corrector & concealer have similar creamy formulas, although the concealer is slightly thicker but they both apply & blend well without disturbing any dry areas. They both do an amazing job at covering dark circles which is what I mostly use it for. I have had no issue with creasing or either product sinking into fine lines. The setting powder is perfect! It is finely milled, translucent & makes everything last all day. I do occasionally find myself using it as an all over powder, not just to set my under eye concealer. It leaves such a natural finish to the skin without it looking cakey/powdery.

All in all, I am incredibly impressed with these S&G products & I will definitely be trying more in the future.

L'Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh Foundation - Porcelain

Thursday, 1 May 2014

Hey Dolls.
After reading amazing things about the newest foundation from L'Oreal, I had to get my hands on it & try it for myself. Everytime I have used foundation this is the one I have reached for & it may just have taken the HG spot.

The foundation comes packaged in a simple glass bottle with a black pump [yay!] & a transparent red lid. What I love most about the packaging is that the shade name/number has been imprinted on the lid so it stands out well against the black pump & there is no chance of it rubbing off. So if you have more than one shade, this would definitely come in handy.

The foundation itself is..amazing/the best thing that has ever graced my face! For a lot of reasons which we will get into soon but one that really makes it stand out is that it is actually pale enough to be classed as Porcelain. A lot of foundations that are classed as Porcelain are far to dark but this one is perfectly light. The photo above makes it look darker than it actually is but once blended it looks exactly like my skin just a lot better.

It has a medium coverage, it covers blemishes & dark circles very well - not completely banishing the need for concealer but I have been using a lot less since I started using this foundation. It blends like a dream & feels very light on the skin, almost like you have nothing on. My skin looks more awake & feels very soft. It is also transfer proof, so if you or someone else touches your face throughout the day or you have a nap there will be no foundation transfer to be seen.

It it quite thick with a runny consistency but as it has a pump, I haven't experienced any problems with how much I dispense. I usually use one - two pumps depending on how my skin is that day & I find that is enough to cover my whole face & blend it down my neck. The lasting power is incredible, it lasts all day without budging what so ever. At the end of the night my skin is still left looking fresh & all of my imperfections are still hidden away. I haven't tested it for a full 24hours but it does last for a good 10 - 12 hours. I have heard a few people say that it sinks into pores & makes dry patches stand out but for me personally, it has done neither. I have enlarged pores & mostly dry skin & it glides over both beautifully.

All in all, I love this foundation! It ticks all the boxes for me - It's light enough for my skin, it covers imperfections very well, it blends like a dream, feels lightweight & lasts well throughout the day.

Are you a fan of L'Oreal? What are your thoughts?
