What I've Bought #19

Saturday, 28 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I'm going to show you a few goodies I have picked up recently. I made a small Xtras order for one product but obviously ended up with two extra things in my basket & I picked up a few bits in boots while shopping with my dad & boyfriend for my dads birthday.

I originally made my Xtras order to get the W7 The Honey Queen Honeycomb Blush, I have heard amazing things about it & I just feel like it would be a great daily blush for me. I also picked up the W7 Prime Magic Anti Redness Primer...I used to use this all the time, I've gone through so many tubes..so, I thought it would be cool to try it out again. The last thing in my order was the Maybelline Colour Show Blush Em' Blush..I've never seen this before & really loved the colours so I thought I'd give it a go.

I went into Boots to spend my advantage card points..I wasn't really sure what I wanted but I ended up getting the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I've wanted to try this for such a long time, I've heard incredible things about it & can't wait to use it. I then noticed that Soap & Glory had a 3for2 offer on...so I had to pick bits up. I got the Lid Stuff Eyshadow Quad - What's Nude, Sexy Mother Blusher - Onamatopeacha & It's About Prime - Bright Light.

I am really excited to try all of these goodies but at the moment, I have only been wearing mascara & brow stuff as the heat makes all other makeup melt off my face. So, if you know of any setting sprays or anything like that to help my makeup beat the heat then please let me know in the comments below.

Have you bought any beauty goodies lately?

Chicken, Tomato & Cheese Stuffed Peppers

Thursday, 26 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
Yesterday was my dads birthday, as he had his gift early I thought I'd make him a special meal. I decided to make some stuffed peppers. I wasn't really sure what to put in them but eventually decided on Chicken, Tomato & Mature Cheese & I must say they turned out really well.

Ingredients [serves 3]
Three large peppers
Two medium sized boneless & skinless chicken breasts.
Two medium sized tomatoes.
30-40g of cheese.

Method:
Preheat the oven to 180c / gas mark 6 & cook the chicken for 45-60 minutes or until there is no pink meat & the juices run clear.

While you are waiting for your chicken to cook, prepare the peppers, cheese & tomatoes.

Start by cutting off the top of the pepper, remove the core, pith & seeds & cut in half.

Chop the tomatoes into cubes & grate the cheese.

When the chicken is done, you can either shred or cube it - I shredded mine but it would work both ways.

You can either mix all the ingredients together or layer them. I chose to latter. I started by adding the chicken, tomato & a generous amount of cheese on top.

Put the oven on a low-medium heat, place the peppers into the middle of the oven & cook for 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted & the pepper is as soft as you want it.

Optional: I added king prawn chilli stir fry on the side. You can add anything you like but I think this goes really well with the stuffed peppers.

This is such a simple yet delicious meal. I will definitely be experimenting with flavours when I make these next.

Rimmel Matte 9in1 BB Cream - Very Light

Tuesday, 24 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
After using up a few BB Cream sachets & loving most of them, I decided to pick one up as now that the weather is getting warmer, I want a lighter base. While I was in Superdrug the other day I spotted the Rimmel Matte 9in1 BB Cream, I couldn't remember if I really loved the sample I had of this one or a Garnier one but I couldn't find a Garnier stand anywhere.. So, I decided to get the Rimmel one. Luckily I have been loving it so much & have used it nearly everyday since purchasing.

The Rimmel Matte BB Cream has quite a runny consistency but that does also mean that you only need to use a small amount as it goes a long way & it is a dream to blend. It feels lightweight, doesn't cling to any dry patches or sink into pores. It evens out my skintone & covers any blemishes/dark circles nicely with only one layer. I do have to add a little concealer to completely cover the dark circles but I do use a lot less product. The BB Cream has a light coverage but it can be built up if needed. I have found that the more you build it up, the more matte it becomes. With one layer, it looks more dewy which I really like especially as the weather is getting warmer. It also contains SPF 15 & some active skincare ingredients that are beneficial to the skin like bamboo powder, kaolin clay, witch hazel & salicylic acid. I have used this with & without powder, I find that although it does last a teeny bit longer with powder I prefer the finish better without. It lasts around 6-7 hours depending on whether I've powdered or not before needing a little touch up.

All in all, I adore it so much! It has been my go to base for quite a while now & I can't imagine ever not loving it. It covers everything I want it to without leaving my skin looking unnatural. It applies & blends well, doesn't disturb any dry patches & gives a lovely healthy glow to the skin. I only apply one layer as I find that is enough for me & I like to either use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush or a makeup sponge. I really like the packaging, one of my favourite colours is purple & even though it has quite a runny consistency, I have had no problems with how much gets dispensed.

Mua Matte Lipstick - Lilac Belle

Saturday, 21 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
As you all probably know, I adore Mua! One of my favourite products from them are the Matte Lipsticks, I own a few & have already shared my love for them but Mua not so recently come out with two new shades & although one of them really wasn't for me..Lilac Belle was definitely my cup of tea.

Lilac Belle is a gorgeous pinky lilac shade. The lipstick has a slightly waxy formula but it applies with ease, gliding on to the lips effortlessly without making imperfections stand out. The pigmentation is incredible, you can achieve an opaque finish with just one swipe. Like all the lipsticks from the matte range, you can either have a subtle hint of colour or with a few more applications a full on intense lip. The lasting power is amazing, it lasts for around 5-6 hours before needing a touch up. Even though the lipstick gives a matte finish, it doesn't feel drying on the lips.

My favourite way to apply the lipstick is to apply it to the lips straight from the bullet & then dab slightly to make it appear more flawless & I think this technique helps with the slightly waxy formula.

All in all, I adore Mua lipsticks. They are an incredible bargain for only £1 & the quality is amazing. The matte lipsticks are a huge favourite & have a verity of shades to suit each & every skintone. I now have 4 of these beauties & would definitely recommend them.

My Current Skincare Routine

Thursday, 19 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
Lately I have been really good at sticking to my skincare routine & I have noticed a massive difference in my skin. So, I thought I'd share it with you.

Every morning & night I use The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter to remove any makeup or nastiness from the skin. It is a thick solid balm that melts beautifully into the skin, dissolving makeup & daily grime with ease. My skin feels soft & it has a beautiful soothing scent.

I then cleanse my face for a second time with the Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleanser* to make sure my skin gets a really deep clean. It is soap & fragrance free so not only does it not cause any irritation but as it is also aimed at blemished/oily skin, it has reduced the redness & blemishes & my skin stays oil free for longer.

I suffer with blackheads on my nose & usually nothing gets rid of them but since I have repurchased & started using the Simple Blackhead Eliminating Face Scrub, I have noticed a huge difference. It is really gentle on the skin, has kind of a creamy texture so it doesn't leave the skin feeling dry or irritated.

After I have finished cleansing & exfoliating my face, I then go in the Lush Eau Roma Water to make sure there is no traces of makeup or previously used products left on the skin. It has lavender water that calms & reduces redness & rose water that helps balance & soften the skin. I really love the scent of this, it's really relaxing & gives my skin that extra clean feeling.

I will then go in with the Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum*. This is a super light hydrating gel, it sort of acts like a protective layer to protect my skin from the weather/products that may irritate it. It sinks in quickly & leaves my skin feels super soft & smooth.

After giving my skin time to breath a little before applying anything else, I use the Origins Gin-zing Refreshing Eye Cream. This feels very creamy & luxurious on the skin. It doesn't drag or irritate the eye area & it sinks in quickly.

Lastly, depending on whether it's day or night - I use the Eucerin Even Brighter Day & Night Cream*. They both feel very hydrating & luxurious on the skin. They sink in quickly & leave my skin looking healthy & brighter.

So that is my current skincare routine. I hope you enjoyed this post & I'd love to know what products you use.

W7 Makeup Brushes

Tuesday, 17 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
I love buying new brushes so when I spotted some from W7 on Fragrance Direct, I had to pick some up. I have been a huge fan of W7 for a long time, over the years I have bought many of the prime magic primers, a few blushes & bronzers etc. So I was super excited to introduce these brushes into my routine.

The brushes have a solid, wooden handle with a black, metal ferrule. They are all easy to hold & incredibly soft.

 Face Blender Brush
Even though this brush is multipurpose, I've been mainly using it to contour. The bristles have been cut into a narrow, angled style to fit perfectly into the hollows of your cheek & easily move to blend out the product. It is definitely the best brush I've used to contour as you get such a precise line that always looks natural.

Foundation Sponge Applicator
This brush is meant for foundation but as I already have a HG brush for that I've been using this brush to blend out concealer as I find the pointed shape makes it fits perfectly into every nook & cranny. It gives such an flawless finish & is really soft so it is perfect for the under eye area.

Angled Eyeshadow Brush
This brush is meant to fill in colour to the contours of your eyes, like brow bone, inner corner etc. but I actually use it to fill in my brows when I use powder as it is thin enough for me to make very precise movements & the angled shape makes defining the tail of my brow a little easier.

All in all, I am really impressed with the quality of the brushes. They all do an amazing job & I will definitely be picking up some more from the range soon.

Purchasing these brushes has really made me want to try out more bits from W7 so if you have any recommendations then please let me know in the comments below.

What is your favourite product from W7?

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

Saturday, 14 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
I've had this cleanser for quite some time but as I already had a few to get through, I put it away & forgot about it. I finally remembered it a little while ago & have been using it in my double cleanse routine when my skin needs that something extra.

The cleansing butter is packaged in a large metal tin with a screw off lid. It has a pretty simple yet eye catching label.

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter is a solid cleansing balm, when massaged into the skin it turns into more of an oil. It dissolves makeup & daily grime effortlessly, with a small amount of product going a long way. It dissolves everything from stubborn mascara to heavy duty foundation/concealer with ease. It has a soothing camomile scent, it is quite subtle & doesn't linger on the skin. I like to use this as a pre-cleanse before going in with the Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser* to make sure it really gives a good deep clean. After removing the cleansing butter with a warm muslin cloth, my skin is soft, clean & brightened. The cleanser is also safe to use on your eyes, it doesn't cause any irritation or stinging if it does get into your eyes.

All in all, I adore this cleanser! It has taken the spot of micellar waters for pre-cleansing. It feels incredibly gentle & luxurious on the skin while removing the most stubborn make up products with ease. I particularly like using this cleanser before bed, as the scent is very soothing & helps me to relax.

The cleanser is suitable for sensitive skin & contact leans wearers.

Faux Leather & Suede

Thursday, 12 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
I decided to wear a few new bits today, so I thought I'd do an outfit post. I recently picked up some Primark skinny jeans but this time I got them in petite so they are no longer rolled up at the bottoms. Yay! While I was in there I also picked up some gorgeous shoes, they are so comfy & I adore the colour. Finding a plain white tee has been a nightmare. They are either ridiculously priced or not really what I'm after. I was browsing Asda's website & found the perfect white tee. It has rolled sleeves, is long enough to cover my bum & isn't sheer - it was also a bargain at £4! Onto my favourite Ebay purchases of all time - I recently featured this choker in an Ebay wishlist. I don't usually go for necklaces like this but I just adore how it looks. I also ordered some rings from Ebay, I have been wearing them every since they arrived.

My dogs wanted some of the blog action :D

Faux Leather Jacket - Tesco
White Tee - Asda
Black Petite Skinnies - Primark
Grey Suede Flats - Primark
 Choker & Rings - Ebay

As my outfit is pretty casual, I decided to keep my hair & makeup pretty simple. I decided on a messy-ish bun, I teased the front to add a little volume before I put it up. For my makeup I used the Rimmel BB Cream, Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Powder, Nars Blush - Deep Throat, Benefit Watts Up Highlighter, Nyx Blush - Taupe to contour, Maybelline Brow Drama & Benefit They're Real Mascara.

What I've Bought #18

Tuesday, 10 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
So..Matt & I recently went shopping & that means I picked up a few beauty goodies. Woohoo! But here's the thing..I've had to separate my face products into two drawers because it was getting a little full so I wanted to mainly buy eye/lip products but...when I came home..I realised that nearly all the products I bought were for the face. D:

From Elf I picked up the HD Powder & the Mineral Eye Brightener. I really just had the urge to try some new powders, so I can't wait to use these.

Superdrug were having an amazing 3for2 offer on all cosmetics...very hard to resist that. I picked up the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation, Rimmel BB Cream & Maybelline Brow Drama. I've been looking for a lighter base as it is getting warmer, I tested them both but really couldn't choose between them so..I got both. The Maybelline Brow Drama is a repurchase as my current one is on it's way out. It is the only prouduct I use on my brows at the moment as it fills them in, shapes & keeps them in place all day.

Boots also had some pretty good deals to. L'Oreal had a 3for2 offer on their face products. I picked up the L'Oreal Blur Cream, L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer & L'Oreal Illuminating powder. I thought these products would help me get the perfect glowing base. I am yet to try any of the products but I am really excited. I then got the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, I swatched shade 10 & 15 but shade 10 seemed to be a lot darker but I'm now thinking it might have not been shade 10 as I didn't really look but shade 15 seems to be a pretty good match so I'm not to bothered.

So that is all the beauty goodies I bought, I forgot to pick up a few things I wanted but oh well, that's what online shopping is for..right? right!

Have you bought any beauty goodies lately? Have you tried any of the products above? Thoughts please :D

Guerlain Terra Tropica Sun Light Duo Bronzing Powder

Saturday, 7 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I want to talk about the most beautiful product I have ever laid my eyes on. I recently won a Dave Lackie twitter competition & the product I won is the Guerlain Terra Tropica Sun Light Duo Bronzing Powder. Holy crap on a cracker! This baby is beautiful. I don't think I have ever loved a product THIS much.

Sorry about the photo's, the sun kept going in & out -.-

What Guerlain Say:
TERRA TROPICA reproduces the flattering aura of the light reflecting on skin at sunrise and sunset. As a precious talisman, it is engraved with two suns and combines a duo of shades to ensure a subtle and dazzling healthy glow. The bronzing powder gently warms up the complexion while the soft blush cleverly flushes the cheeks.

The bronzing duo comes packaged in a matte black compact which includes a massive mirror. The packaging feels quite sturdy & has a nice little clicking sound when you close it. It has Terracotta embossed on to the front of the compact but unfortunately because it's black on black, I couldn't get it to show in the photo.

The bronzing powder contains a peach blush, a bronzer & a gold highlighter. The gold highlighter does ware off after a few uses which is a shame as they give such a beautiful finish to the skin when used alone as a highlight. In the pan the bronzer looks very dark for my pale skintone but when lightly dusted onto the skin, it gives the most beautiful subtle bronzed glow. The peachy blush adds a lovely heathly glow to the cheeks, it is definitely a shade I reach for when I'm going for a 'my skin but better' make up look.

Both blush & bronzer are big enough to use on their own or you can use a large fluffy brush to mix them together to add a peachy sunkissed look to the skin. They both blend like a dream & you only need to use a small amount as they have incredible pigmentation. The bronzing duo does contain subtle gold shimmer but when applied it isn't obvious...it just adds to that healthy glow. I have been mostly using the bronzer to lightly contour & I've been dusting it lightly onto my temples & jawline. What I love most about this product is that it lasts all day without becoming patchy or irritating my skin as from as far as I can tell, it has no scent. If I'm not swirling the products together, I have only been using the golden highlighter on my cheekbones as I think it may be a bit to much for the inner corner/brow bone but it is incredibly beautiful. I love the look of a golden highlight with subtly bronzed skin.

All in all, I adore it. The quality, design & how much of a difference it makes to my skin is just phenomenal. I love how subtle it is but can be built up to be more intense if needed, I also think it would suite a range of skintones & I just love it. I literally cannot say a bad word about it because it's just that amazing.

The Guerlain Terra Tropica Sun Light Duo Bronzing Powder will be available to buy in July I believe. I've done a little research & I think it's going to be around the £40-£45 mark.

Are you a fan of Guerlain? What products would you recommend?

A Makeover At Elf

Thursday, 5 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
On monday, my boyfriend & I decided to go to Cardiff for a spot of shopping. The day was made even better by having a makover at Elf. I had an amazing experience, so I thought I'd tell you all about it.

Before & After. Also I had to add the photo of Matt & I because..well I love it.

My appointment at Elf was at 11:30am, so obviously I was there around 15 minutes early. I really liked that I didn't have to wait until my specific time to get started. My makeover was done by the lovely & gorgeous Emily. I was a little nervous as I had never had a makeover before but she was very kind & made me feel really comfortable. I decided to let her do whatever but I did decide on a red lip as it's my favourite. She picked the shades really well & everything she did felt really gentle & it was just so amazing. We had a good little chat while she was doing my makeup which really helped me to relax & enjoy the experience. After she was done, she held up a mirror for me to see the finished look & asked if I wanted to change anything but I thought it was perfect the way it was. After I purchased a few goodies, I left to do some shopping & as I was walking around Cardiff I received some lovely compliments on my make up.

I definitely recommend Elf for makeovers & products. I have been a fan of Elf for quite a long time & honestly, this has just made me love them more.

The Simple Eye

Tuesday, 3 June 2014

Hey Dolls.
I am all for simple make up, so today I thought I'd talk about three 'do it all' eye products.

I am not the best at using more than one eye product & blending them together to create a seamless finish BUT I am good at using one product that creates an amazing eye look with minimal effort. I'm all over that! The products I switch between to do that are the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Paint - Rich Russet, Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick - Bulletproof Beige & The Maybelline Colour Tattoo - On & On Bronze. They are all pretty "safe" colours, nothing to out there but when applied they all look so lovely. I like to apply the Rimmel products directly onto my lid & then blend out with a brush. Where as I apply the Maybelline product on to the brush first & then to my lid. They all have great staying power, without creasing/fading throughout the day.

How do you create a simple eye?
