Ciate Chalkboard Manicure

Thursday, 31 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
I have wanted the Ciate Chalkboard Manicure Set since it came out but I always thought it was a little expensive but quite a while ago I was browsing Fragrance Direct & saw it for £6.99! This is the only Ciate bargain I got but they do have a few other amazing sets for incredible prices.

The Ciate set contains:
4 Nail Art Pens - Yellow, Pink, White & Blue
1 Matte Black Chalkboard Paint Pot
1 Mattnificent Matte Top Coat

To apply start with a basecoat of your choice & then apply two coats of the Matte Black Chalkboard Paint Pot. Once your nails are dry, draw on your designs with the pens - if you make a mistake, you can just wash it off with water & start again. After you are happy with your designs, keep them place with a coat of the matte top coat.

Like most nail art pens, you do have to push the nibs onto a hard surface to get the paint flowing before being able to use. The paint is a little thick, so it might not be 100% even but for a chalkboard effect - they're great.

Both the Black Matte Paint Pot & Matte Top Coat are both incredible quality. The brushes are quite thin but when in contact with the nail, they fan out to make it incredibly quick to apply. Both of the paint pots dry insanely fast, so you will have a unique manicure in no time.

All in all, I adore this little set. I love the shade selection of the pens & they are super easy to use. The matte paint pot & top coat are incredible quality & help my nails stay chip free for 3-4 days.
Have you tried this set?

Blog Sale Bargains #7

Tuesday, 29 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
I haven't bought a lot from blog sales since my last blog sale bargains post but I did recently get two things that I have totally fallen in love with. So, I thought I'd share them with you.

Mac Eyeshadow - Jaunty is a beautiful champagne-y gold shade with a frost finish. It is the perfect shade to just sweep across the lid, blend a little & you're good to go. It is exactly what I have been looking for as when I haven't got a lot of time can't get myself out of bed.. I like to wear an eyeshadow that does it all - it not only takes seconds to apply but it also opens up the eyes & looks incredible pretty with a multitude of looks. I haven't just been using this as an eyeshadow - I accidentally swirled my highlighter brush in this instead of my highlighter & didn't notice until I had started doing something else but I actually really loved how it looked. Now, you may be thinking how could you possibly do that when my highlighter of choice is around 3 times the size but trust me..very little sleep makes you do crazy things.

All in all, I absolutely adore it. It is my go to everyday shade at the moment & has also become my highlighter of choice when I want to add a little something extra. The quality & pigmentation is absolutely incredible. It was an amazing bargain at only £4!

I have wanted the Urban Decay Mini Optical Blurring Brush for quite a while but I couldn't justify the price as I already have so many amazing foundation brushes but when I saw the mini version on a blog sale for £1...I couldn't say no. It has super soft, densely packed synthetic bristles. Even though it is quite small, it is incredibly easy to apply products from liquid to cream for a flawless, streak free finish. The brush is incredibly easy to clean & dries pretty quickly - around 3 hours. [ I usually have to leave my other brushes over night to make sure they are completely dry ] I also haven't experienced any shedding or the brush becoming less soft after washing.

All in all, I absolutely adore this brush. The quality is incredible & even though it is a little pricey at £20, I'd definitely recommend picking it up.

What blog sale bargains have you snapped up lately?

Aubergine Fox

Saturday, 26 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
I recently bought a beautiful necklace from Etsy after someone linked Aubergine Fox on twitter & as I love it so much..I just had to share it with you.

The pendant is gold plated & has been cut into a rough triangle shape. It has beautiful amethyst crystals & a 65cm gold chain. It has been beautifully made & adds a unique touch to any outfit.

When I received the necklace, it was beautifully wrapped in purple paper & there was also two drumsticks inside the package. This was such an amazing touch for me as one of my favourite colours is purple & I adore lollies.

I wanted to add a little more infomation about the shop so I asked Katie a few questions on twitter.

Why did you start your shop?
Firstly, I decided to make it really because I'm graduating soon and it's been something I've been interested in for years but never had the courage to do! I felt like if I don't do it before I leave I probably never will once I'm working full time, so I just went ahead!

What inspires your designs?
There are SO many things and people that inspire my designs! I get a lot of inspiration from blogs & from people specialising in typography. I've always loved typography, it was something I specialised in during A level art, and just seeing amazing works can trigger off new ideas

What is it like to have your own business?
Also running your own business isn't nearly as terrifying or as daunting as I thought! Running it with someone else makes it easier but I would definitely recommend if you want to sell something, do it! It's so rewarding when customers love your work, making people happy is the best part about it! My only warning is to be quite firm. At times, I want to please people and my profit can run low because I offer prices lower than I should be offering. Making people as happy as possible can be addictive, but make sure you're looking after yourself. I've definitely made losses on orders because I've been so keen to make things perfect and sometimes forget to pay for me own time, so don't undersell yourself.

What is your favourite item that is currently on your shop?
I have a bit of a soft spot for my wood pencil collections, particularly the mint and gold ones! I think it might be because they were also one of my first collections I did!

Aubergine fox sell a range of products from jewellery to homeware to accessories to notebooks & pencils. I definitely recommend you check them out.

W7 Cosmetics

Thursday, 24 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
I have been a fan of W7 for a long time. They are an affordable brand that offers incredible quality products & in my opinion they don't get as much love as they deserve. So, when I had to chance to try a few bits from W7.. I couldn't wait to share them with you.

Full Time Lip Colour -  On Trend.
On one end you have a highly pigmented lip colour that applies as a gloss but once dry it leaves a beautiful matte finish & on the other end there is a clear gloss. The lip colour glides effortlessly onto your lips leaving a stunning opaque colour with just one application. It lasts for around 5-6 hours, I did find that it wears slightly more on the inner part of your lip if your eating or drinking but a quick reapplication & that is sorted in no time. The only gripe I have with the lip colour is that when it's drying, it does feel very tacky but once dry there is no issue at all. I'm not usually a fan of lip glosses but I will say that this is the best I've tried, it's not sticky, doesn't feel heavy on the lips & leaves a lovely subtle shine.

The Fixer Face Spray.
A weightless mist that can be used to fix, refresh & keep makeup in place all day. It dries quickly & leaves a slight cooling sensation on the skin. It does have quite a strong scent at first but as it dries it becomes unnoticeable. I have noticed a massive difference in how my makeup wears throughout the day, especially my foundation. It looks fresher & doesn't attempt to do a disappearing act after a few hours in the sun.

Souffle Mascara.
A mascara for the days where you don't want to wear to much makeup but you need a little something. As you can imagine from the name souffle, the mascara is very lightweight & doesn't leave the lashes feeling hard or crispy. It lengthens, adds volume & separates my lashes nicely. As the brush is quite large, it grabs every lash & gives them an even coating in just one application. The mascara holds a curl well & doesn't budge or smudge throughout the day.

Powder Blush - Rose.
Rose is a beautiful deep pink shade. It has a soft finely milled texture, incredibly pigmented, blends well & stays in place all day. It does contain a little shimmer which isn't to noticeable when applied, it just adds a lovely glow to the skin. The blush can be lightly dusted onto the cheeks for a natural flushed look or built up to be more intense.

All in all, I absolutely adore everything so much. The quality is incredible & so affordable. I especially love the mascara, I usually have to use a separate one for my bottom lashes but with this it just creates the perfect definition.

*The products featured in this post was gifted to me for consideration of review.

Avene Samples

Tuesday, 22 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
I recently came across a website called Mistrys Pharmacy which has a 'try before you buy' feature. Basically you choose 5 samples & only pay for p+p. I wanted to try more Avene goodies & I thought this would be a great way to do this. I also picked an Estee Lauder sample but that is tucked away with all my other sample sachets at the moment. The only downside to this is that the samples sell out quickly so when I ordered there wasn't a lot to choose from.

Soothing Hydrating Serum
This has a light, almost gel like formula. It glides on to the skin leaving it feeling soft, supple & hydrated. It absorbs quickly & has reduced sensitivity.

Gentle Purifying Scrub
This has a gel formula with tiny micro beads that eliminate impurities & exfoliate the skin without causing irritation. After rinsing it off, my skin feels fresh & smooth.

Soapless Cleansing Gel
This has a thick gel formula. It lathers up really well & as it's soapless, it doesn't leave the skin dry/tight after removing. My face feel really clean & fresh after use & I haven't had any issues with irritation or breakouts.

Very High Protection Cream SPF50
This is a creamy SPF that feels light on the skin & absorbs quickly. It leaves my skin hydrated & protected well from the sun,

I think this is a great idea & wish a lot of websites offered this service. I really like that you can try something before committing to spending your hard earned money on them. I already own the full size version of the Soothing Hydrating Serum* but I wanted a little mini version to keep at my boyfriends place.

There is a few other brands to choose from like Eucerin, Lancome, Estee Lauder etc.

Will you be picking up any samples?

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Textured Nail Polishes

Saturday, 19 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I'm going to talk about two nail polishes I have had my eye on for a while. I had originally spotted the Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Polishes on the Boots website but as I didn't want to spend around £6.99 for one polish.. I left them be. A few weeks later I spotted them on Fragrance Direct for only £1.99 each.. bargain! It took me a while to purchase them but when I did, I chose the shades Sour Apple & Razzleberry - both incredibly gorgeous shades.

Sour Apple is a Mint Green shade.
Razzleberry is a Bright Blue shade.

I adore textured polish, especially when I'm rocking a basic outfit & I want something to jazz it up a bit. I find the bright shades & the not too over the top texture really works well. The consistency of the polishes is quite thin but that does mean that they dry fairly quickly. On the swatches above, I used two coats to make the texture stand out a little more but you could totally get away with one coat & still have an opaque finish. Even though the brush looks quite thin, while you're applying the polish it fans out & covers the majority of the nail making application time much quicker. I was a little worried that because of the texture, it would snag on clothing but so far I haven't experienced that at all. The only grumble I do have with these polishes is that they chip quite easily after around two - three days.

All in all, I do really like these polishes. The shades are gorgeous & the texture is amazing. I love using them to add a pop of colour to my outfits.

Are you a fan of textured nails?

Brand Focus | L'Oreal

Thursday, 17 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I'm going to talk about a brand that I never used to pay that much attention to but now I can't get enough of their products & have a mahoosive wishlist.

L-R: Eyeliner, Concealer, Foundation, Primer, Powder.
As you can see the powder is no longer in it's packaging..I dropped it one to many times. D:

L'Oreal Superliner Perfect Slim Eyeliner Pen is highly pigmented, easy to use & fast drying. It has an super thin nib so you can easily create a thin or thick line with ease. It last well throughout the day without flaking or fading.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer has quite a thick consistency but is an absolute dream to blend. It conceals miner dark circles & does a fab job at brightening the area without sinking into fine lines or looking cakey. The concealer also works well as a cheekbone highlight as it contains subtle shimmer.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation is a 'my skin but better' product. It gives a light-medium coverage, blends well, adds a beautiful dewy glow to skin & doesn't cling to any dry patches. It matches my skin pretty well & lasts all day.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer is an amazing multitasking product. It works really well as an all over primer to brighten the skin & help keep your makeup in place for longer or as a highlight. It feels hydrating & silky on the skin, it makes my makeup last longer & adds a gorgeous natural glow.

L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Powder gives a matte finish to the skin while adding a light coverage & a velvety soft finish. It isn't enough for me to use alone but it sets makeup incredibly well. My makeup lasts longer, it doesn't stick to dry patches or look cakey no matter how much you apply.
So those are my person favourites from L'Oreal. The products are great quality & have a wide range of products to suite everyone.

If you have an recommendations of products I should try, let me know in the comments.

Five Favourite Things #2

Tuesday, 15 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
So today is going to be another Five Favourite Things post. These posts are about favourites that aren't beauty related. I like to do them in fives because it's not so recently become a favourite number. So..yeah..let's get started.

Grimm Season 1, Season 2 & Aunt Marie's Book Of Lore | My boyfriend & I have really been enjoying watching this. Basically, Nick is descended from a line of "guardians" known as "Grimms", charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world. Matt kindly bought me Aun't Marie's Book Of Lore which is supposed to be the book from the show. It has a lot of information about the creatures from the show & it's awesome.

Speaker | I've wanted something like this for a while, I really like to listen to music when I do my makeup but I always ended getting foundation over my earphones. The speaker is really good quality, the charge lasts for such a long time & it's just amazing.

Marvel Pjs | You might have seen this in my last Primark haul. They are super comfy, wash really well & well..who doesn't love marvel?!

Wreck This Journal | I've wanted this for such a long time but when I finally got it, I was a little hesitant to start as I like my books to be pristine for as long as possible. I still have a few pages to complete but I've had so much fun with it.

Pokemon X | Oh my goodness! Where do I even start?! My boyfriend & I have gotten into the habit of playing Pokemon together. Like last time he played Pokemon White & I then played Pokemon Black. This time he had Y & obviously I had X. It's an amazing game, I espeically love interacting with the pokemon in your team. Adorable! There is also a ton of new pokemon to catch & the gym's are pretty great to. I've finished the story now but I will definitely be re starting as it is just one of those games you can play over & over!
So those are a few of my non-beauty favourites. What are your five favourite things?

Disappointing Products #2

Saturday, 12 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I want to talk about a few products that I really wanted to love but unfortunately they didn't work for me.

L'Oreal Illuminating Powder
This is actually quite a new purchase for me & at first I adored it. It left such a gorgeous glow on the skin but after the second use..that disappeared. The shimmer is just on the top layer, so when you get through's just a normal powder which sets my makeup nicely but as I bought it for the illuminating aspect, it really let me down.

17 Photo Flawless Primer
I had quite high hopes for this primer, I've seen some pretty good reviews but for me it did nothing. It felt great on the skin but I found my foundation didn't apply as well, it didn't minimise the appearance of pores or help my makeup last - if anything it made the lasting time worse.

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon
I cannot tell you how excited I was to get this from a blogsale. The shade is a beautiful deep plum. It applies well but it feels really sticky on my lips & doesn't wear well at all. When I first wore this, after about 30 minutes it had pretty much all but disappeared except for the corners of my mouth. This was without eating or drinking.

Rimmel Apocolips Lip Lacquer
I wanted these to work for me so bad that I have made myself wear them just to see if they would grow on me but sadly they didn't. Again I adore the shades, they are shades I would typically go for but when applied they feel really thick & sticky. The scent is also really off putting, to me they smell like cheap children's make up.

So those are the products that I am unfortunately quite disappointed with. Keep in mind that just because these products didn't float my boat, doesn't mean they won't float yours.

I would love to know what products or if you love any of the products above.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm

Thursday, 10 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
I am a huge fan of Urban Decay, I have a few products that I adore. So when they brought out the Beauty Balm, I really wanted to try it out but never picked it up for some reason. Quite a while ago, my boyfriend bought me a few goodies & one of them was the mini version of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm.

The Urban Decay Beauty Balm has a lightweight, creamy formula. When applied, it leaves the skin feeling soft & hydrated, it reduces redness & minimises the appearance of pores. You only need a small amount as it really does go a long way. I like to apply it by either using a buffing brush or a sponge as I feel they give the best finish. It blends effortlessly into the skin & looks incredibly natural. The beauty balm gives a light coverage but leaves the skin looking even & adds a nice healthy glow. As you can see from the photo above it comes out quite dark but once blended, it kind of adapts to your skintone & looks like the perfect shade. The lasting power is incredible, it lasted around 8-9 hours before needing a little touch up aound my mouth.

You can use the beauty balm two ways - it can be used as a primer or it can be used on it's own. I haven't really tried it as a primer as I have been loving just using it as my base. It is oil free & contains an SPF 20 so it's perfect for warmer weather.

All in all, I truly adore this. I may have to pick up the full size version soon because it's just amazing (:

Are you a fan of Urban Decay? What is your favourite bb/cc cream?

Nars Blush - Deep Throat

Tuesday, 8 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
Nars is a brand that I have lusted over for a long time. From the packaging to the shade range to the quality - everything is perfect. I not so recently won Julie's giveaway which included a Nars blush. I was & still am over the moon & so grateful to Julie. I must say it was a bit of a struggle to wait until it was photographed before trying it out but I managed to resist.

The blush is packaged in a black rubberised compact which comes with a large mirror. The only gripe I have with the packaging is that it gets dirty so easily - it's a magnet for dirt & fingerprints.

Deep Throat is a gorgeous peachy pink that has a hint of golden shimmer running through it which gives the skin a subtle radiant glow. The pigmentation is incredible, one swipe & you have more than enough to add beautiful wash of colour on the cheeks but if you want a more intense look, the blush can be easily built up to give the desired effect with looking over the top. The blush is soft, smooth & applies beautifully. It also has incredible staying power, I usually apply my makeup around 9am-10am depending on how comfy the bed is & it's still going strong at 6pm. For me, that is pretty damn impressive because not only am I a serial face toucher but when summer rolls around, my skin gets fairly oily.

All in all, I adore this blush. It has become my most reached for when I wear a full face of makeup. It is great for minimal makeup days or days where you want something to perk up your skin without drawing attention away from the main focus of your makeup look. The quality is amazing on both the packaging & product itself. I personally think this blush is well worth the price tag, I would love to try more shades in the future. So, if you have any recommendations then please leave them in the comments below.

Are you a fan of Nars?

Elf HD Powder

Saturday, 5 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I'm going to talk about a product I have been meaning to try for a long time - The Elf HD Powder. I usually tend to stay away from loose powders as I am quite clumsy so it would usually result in a lot of mess & wasted product but I've heard great things about this one so I had to try it.

The powder comes packaged in a sleek, black squared off plastic pot with a screw off lid. It also includes a large powder puff.

The Elf HD Powder is a finely milled, loose powder. In the pot, it looks bright white but when applied to the skin it becomes translucent. I like to turn the powder onto it's side & gently tap it. I find that doing this dispenses just the right amount of product to set the whole face. I've been using the Real Techniques Powder brush to buff it into the skin, it sets my foundation/concealer well without looking cakey or disturbing any dry patches.  As it is a loose powder, I thought there may be quite a lot of fall out & mess but surprisingly there is little fall out to be seen. After applying the powder, my face looks smooth & flawless.

All in all, I really like this powder. It sets my make up nicely, gives a flawless, natural finish & you only need a small amount, so it should last a long time.

What is your go to setting powder? Are you a fan of Elf?

Loving Lately #4

Tuesday, 1 July 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I thought I'd talk about a few products that I have been loving lately. I love doing these kinds of posts because I get to talk about multiple things that I am currently using & may not do a full review on or have already talked about it in previous posts.

Too Faced Glamour To Go Palette - Dream Edition
This was featured in Georgina's 'out with the old #2' post. I am so glad I managed to get my hands on it as I have always wanted to try Too Faced products & it is absolutely beautiful. The palette contains 8 eyeshadows, a blush, a bronzer & a lip gloss. I have tried the eyeshadows, blush & bronzer & can say they are all incredible quality, blend well & last all day. I was a little apprehensive of the bronzer at first because I am super pale but if your light handed, it looks beautiful.
When escentual sent me the Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser, they included some amazing samples which included the even brighter day & night cream. I have been using them everyday & night with the cleanser & I adore them. They both feel so luxurious, sink in quickly & leave my skin looking & feeling amazing. My skin looks a lot more awake & healthy & it's safe to say I'll be super sad when these run out.

I won this beauty in a giveaway a little while ago, I was super excited because I have actually been eyeing it up for quite some time. It is the perfect pastel lilac shade. You only need one - two coats for a opaque & even finish, it dries incredibly quickly & has so far lasted up to 5 days without chipping. Did I mention that the colour is beautiful?

I not so recently got this from a blogsale, I do actually own another mini size of this but as I like it so much I couldn't resist picking it up. It is a silicone based primer, it smoothes over the skin minimising pores & bluring blemishes along the way. My make up lasts so much longer when I use this & you only need a tiny amount. it's also oil free which is a bonus.

I talked about The Body Shop lip butters in a previous Loving Lately but this particular scent is quite new to my collection. The lip butter is incredible, it has a solid texture but when it comes in contact with body heat it starts to melt & feels very hydrating & softening on the lips. What made it stand out for me is the scent..if you're a fan blueberries then you will love this. It doesn't smell artificial at all & the scent subtlety lingers on the lips.

What have you been loving lately?
