Clinique Superprimer Face Primer - Redness

Tuesday, 30 September 2014

After loving the Clinique superprimer for dull skin, so when I spotted the primer to combat redness in a blogsale, I couldn't resist picking it up.
This is a customised primer that helps to prep & correct your skin before foundation/concealer application. I like to focus the primer mainly on the areas where I get a lot of redness but I also blend into the rest of my face to help my makeup last all day. The primer has a creamy mousse like texture that goes an incredibly long way, so for me a pea sized amount is more than enough. As it's oil free, I was worried it would leave my dry skin feeling tight & draw attention to any dry patches but it smooths over the skin leaving it looking even & gives it a velvety, almost powdery finish. It sinks into the skin almost instantly becoming almost undetectable to the touch, providing a perfect base for the rest of my makeup.

All in all, I adore this primer! It evens out my skin incredibly well, with only a hint of redness left which my foundation can easily conceal. My makeup applies really well & lasts all day long.

There are 6 superprimers to combat a range of complexion issues. The primers retail at £20 each for 30ml & can be found on the Clinique website, Debenhams, Feel Unique & Boots.

What is your favourite product to combat redness? Have you tried any of the superprimers?

Warren James Melody Midnight Black Crystal & Bead Bracelet

Saturday, 27 September 2014

Hey Dolls.
A few days ago my boyfriend & I went into town to have a little nose around. We popped into Warren James as they are having a massive sale - I do love a good bargain. Matt said that I could pick a few things for Christmas, I spotted a beautiful pair of earrings & a equally as beautiful bracelet. As we were making our way to Costa Matt said I could have one of the pieces now, I chose the bracelet as I don't really have any super special ones.

The bracelet is made up of black crystals with one white bead encrusted with stones in the middle to add a bit of sparkle when the light hits it. It is expandable so it will be a perfect fit for anyone & incredibly comfortable to wear.
I absolutely adore the bracelet, it makes any outfit look a little bit prettier. My favourite thing about the bracelet is how it sparkles when the light catches it, I have caught myself staring at it from time to time. I'm sure I was a magpie in a past life. I'm so happy that I now have a gorgeous bracelet for those extra special occasions, one that can be worn with a smart or casual outfit. It's so lovely & I definitely recommend checking out Warren James.

The Reading Habits Tag

Thursday, 25 September 2014

 Image from Pinterest.
Hey Dolls.
It feels like I haven't done a tag in a long time. I recently found the Reading Habits tag on Natalie's blog. I adore reading, it's one of my favourite things to do, so I couldn't resist doing the tag.

1. Do you have a certain place for reading at home?
Not really, as long as I'm comfortable I can read anywhere. I do mostly read while laying in bed, even though it's super comfy I have dropped the book on my face many times haha.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
I used to use random bits of paper but I now have two bookmarks that are really special to me, so I use them instead.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or a certain number of pages?
As long as I've finished the page, I can stop reading. I do generally like to get to the end of the chapter though.

4. Do you eat or drink when reading?
I pretty much always have a drink with me, so I guess I drink when I read but it's not a necessity.

5. Do you watch TV or listen to music whilst reading?
I don't personally put music or the tv on when I'm reading but if I'm at my boyfriends place then he usually has something on.

6. One book at a time or several at once?
One book at a time. I would rather enjoy one book & then move on to another.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?
I only read at home or my boyfriends place. I easily get engrossed  in my book that I'd probably miss my stop if I was reading on the bus/train.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Silently. I don't like the sound of my own voice so I'd probably just annoy myself if I read out loud.

9. Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?
No, I think I would probably not finish the book if I read ahead or skipped pages.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
I do try to keep it new for as long as possible but I feel like a book has been well loved if it has a bit of wear & tear.

11. Do you write in your books?
God no! I quite like a bit of wear & tear but writing/doodling isn't allowed.

12. What are you currently reading?
I'm currently ready Harry Potter & The Philosophers Stone..again. I have read the series so many times but the books just never get old.

What are you currently reading?

Bobbi Brown Corrector - Extra Light Bisque

Tuesday, 23 September 2014

Hey Dolls.
It is no secret that I have some crazy dark circles. My sleeping pattern isn't the best & even though it has gotten a lot better recently, they still look as horrid as ever. I have tried many concealers to solve this but honestly they just don't cut it. I picked up the Bobbi Brown Corrector from a blogsale for only £9, I've heard so many great things about it that I couldn't pass it up. I have been using it everyday since it got pushed through my letterbox & a little spoiler here....I absolutely adore it.

My annoying camera has made the product in the pan look completely wrong, it's actually the colour on the swatch.

There are 16 shades available either pink or peach in tone to neutralise under-eye darkness. I have Extra Light Bisque which has a pink tone, I find that correctors with pink tones instead of peach work better for my skintone.

The corrector has a thick but creamy consistency because of this it takes very little product to correct any darkness & blends like an absolute dream. It feels quite tacky after applying which I find helps my concealer last longer & stay crease free as it has something to stick to. I have noticed that because the corrector does the majority of the work, I only use a tiny amount of concealer just to give a little more coverage & to match the colour to the rest of the face.

The dark circles appear to be worse around my right eye, so I use a little more product but because of that I can say that the corrector works just as well on barely there dark circles & horrendous dark circles.

My favourite way to apply the corrector is to use my ring finger to press it into the skin so it warms it up a little & then blend it out with the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I find that using the sponge really help to move the product around & reach all the hard to reach bits with ease.

All in all, it is an incredible product & I love it so much! I have used it every single day that I have applied a full face of makeup. It does such an amazing job at correcting any dark areas & making the eye area look brighter. After applying my concealer, it looks flawless all day long. I definitely recommend trying out a corrector if you suffer with dark circles. If you're looking for a high street alternative then the Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer Kit has a fab corrector but it is more peach toned.

What is your favourite anti dark circle product?

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipstick

Saturday, 20 September 2014

Hey Dolls.
I adore a bold matte lip, I haven't worn on for quite a while. So, I was super excited to get my hands on the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipstick - Frambourjoise. It is such a lovely shade & it has been so fun to add a pop of colour into my usually neutral makeup routine.

Frambourjoise is a gorgeous red, the shade reminds me a little of raspberries.

The liquid lipstick gives opaque colour in one sweep. When first applied it is more like a gloss but after a minute or so it dries down to a slightly powdery matte finish. I find that unlike most matte lip products, it feels very light & doesn't make lip imperfections more noticeable. What made me fall head over heels for the liquid lipstick is the wear time. Whether your eating, drinking or locking lips, it's not going to transfer or leave that weird line of colour around your lips! When it comes to removing, it took a few cotton pads soaked full of micellar water & then ended in me resorting to using some of the body shop camomile cleanser to rid my pout of any stains. To some, this may be a royal pain in the backside but as I am not a fan of reapplying lip products, I'm pretty okay with it. I find the best way to apply the liquid lipstick is to use the doe foot applicator for the first layer & then gently sweep a clean finger across the lips to make sure it is completely even.

All in all, I adore it! It gives a bold matte finish in one sweep, lasts all day long & doesn't draw attention to any imperfections. The doe foot applicator makes it so easy to apply & I like that it takes a minute or so to dry down as it gives me more time to work & perfect it.

Are you a fan of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipsticks? What shades have you tried?

Blog Sale Bargains #9

Thursday, 18 September 2014

Hey Dolls.
I'm back with another blog sale bargains post. I have recently picked up a few things that I am super excited about. Even though I have tried everything, a few things have only been used once. So, I will only be giving first impression type reviews.

Mascara £12.50? | Concealer £10 | Primer £4 | Primer £4 | Concealer £10 | Eyeshadow £9 | Contour Kit £4

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.
As you can see from the photo above, the wand does hold quite a lot of product. I did have to scape off quite a lot before applying but after that the mascara lengthened & added volume to my lashes amazingly well. I didn't experiance any flaking or smudging throughout the day & as it holds a curl really well.

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer - Fair.
This concealer is incredible. It is really creamy which makes blending effortless, it covers a multitude of sins [I'm looking at you dark circles!] & it stays in place all day, without creasing or moving. The only downside I have is with the packaging, the concealer is quite thick so I do find it can take a while for the product to come out.

Maxfactor Face Finity Primer.
This primer has an almost gel light consistency, it feels very light, cooling & hydrating when applied. I found that it lightly mattified my skin but still allows it to glow. I was really impressed by how my makeup lasted, it looked fresh & flawless all day.

The Body Shop Instablur Primer.
This is a silicone based primer that leaves the skin with a velvety finish. It helped even out my skintone & blurred pores/blemishes really well with very little product needed. I found that the primer helped keep any shine at bay, which allowed my makeup to last longer & look flawless all day.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer - NW15.
The concealer has a rather liquidy consistency which makes it an absolute dream to blend. It will cover anything & everything you want it to without creasing or oxidising throughout the day. The lasting power is also incredible, it will stay in place all day & night long without budging what so ever.

Mac Eyeshadow - Cranberry.
This is a gorgeous burgundy shade, it makes any look a little more edgy. I have been loving using it as a liner when I'm wearing pretty natural makeup. The quality of the eyeshadow is fantastic, it's incredibly pigmented, I haven't experienced any fall out & it lasts all day without fading.

Sleek Contour Kit - Light.
This kit contains a matte contour powder & a shimmery highlighter. The contour shade does look a little dark in the pan but when applied it creates a natural looking shadow without looking muddy or obvious. The highlight has a peachy tone, it has subtle simmer running through it which gives the skin a lovely glow. They both apply/blend easily, have incredible pigmentation & last all day.

I already have reviewed the Mac concealer in a different shade before, so if you want to read the full review click here.

W7 The Honey Queen Honeycomb Blusher & Prime Magic Anti Redness Primer

Thursday, 11 September 2014

Hey Dolls.
W7 was one of the first brands I got into when I started to wear makeup & they are still a firm favourite to this day. So after seeing some great reviews on The Honey Queen Honeycomb Blusher, I had to pick it up. I decided to have a browse at the other W7 products that were available & couldn't resist picking up an old favourite, the Prime Magic Anti Redness Primer. This may have been the first primer I ever used & I loved it but as I got more into makeup & branched out, it hasn't been repurchased until now.

The blusher has a lovely honeycomb pattern - it is made up of peach, coral, bronze & lilac hexagons which when swirled together create a gorgeous golden peach shade that looks quite subtle when applied. I like that the blush isn't crazy pigmented because that means I can build it up as much as I like instead of having to be light handed when it comes to application. The blush has quite a silky texture, it applies/blends like a dream & has incredible lasting power. One of the things I like most about the blusher is that it is quite versatile - It can be used as a blusher, highlight & it works really well when layered over different blushers to create a unique shade or just to add a radiant glow to the skin.

The primer is silicone based, it leaves the skin looking smooth & feeling silky while the green tint helps to reduce redness. I have found that I apply less concealer to my cheeks & the sides of my nose when using this. My makeup applies beautifully but I don't find that it lasts that much longer so I tend to apply my usual primer on top to make sure my makeup stays in place. What I like most about the primer is that when it's applied, it's barely noticeable on the skin - it feels lightweight & doesn't leave any residue behind.

All in all, I adore the blush & even though the primer isn't quite as good as I remember it, I still really like it. I would recommend W7 products to anyone & everyone. They are so affordable & the quality really is amazing.

Are you a fan of W7? What are your favourite products?

Blog Sale Bargains #8

Saturday, 6 September 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I have another blog sale bargains post. I recently joined the #BBloggers Beauty Swap & Sale Group on Facebook & purchased a few things. I also found some great blog sales which I couldn't resist getting some goodies from.

Primer £9 | Corrector - £9 | Blush £2 | Highlighter - £2 | Concealer - £3

Clinique Superprimer - Redness
After trying the superprimer for dull skin & loving it, I couldn't resist getting the one to correct redness. It has a creamy mousse like texture which leaves my skin feeling very silky. I mostly have redness on my cheeks & I have seen a massive improvement when using this primer. It really tones it down with only a small amount needed. My makeup also applies beautifully & lasts all day.

Bobbi Brown Corrector - Extra Light Bisque
I am forever hunting for something that can tone down my dark circles, concealer on it's own just doesn't seem to be cutting it anymore. The corrector is a pale pink & has a creamy texture, it does need a little warming between the fingers before applying as it seems to apply that little bit better. It drastically tones down my dark circles with only a small amount of product needed. I find that since using this I only use a small dab of concealer just to brighten & match it to the rest of my face.

Thebalm How About Them Apples Mini Cream Blush - Pie
In the pan & swatched, it looks pretty scary but once blended out it leaves a lovely subtle flush of colour. I really like the texture, it's feels quite silky & blends like a dream. The lasting power is also really impressive, it stays put for a decent 5 hours without needing a little touch up.

Benefit High Beam Mini
This has become my new favourite highlight. It creates a gorgeous glow with only a tiny amount of products. I find it applies best when I apply the product onto my hand first & then dab it onto my cheekbones, bridge of the nose & cupids bow. When applied straight to the face, I find it a little hard to blend & the lines of where it was applied are still quite obvious. Other than that, I adore it. It really brightens up the skin & works well on powdered & un-powdered skin.

Smashbox High Definition Concealer - Light
I have a few mini smashbox products & quite like them, so I couldn't pass up the chance to try a concealer. It has a medium coverage but it can be built up without it becoming cakey or feeling heavy on the skin. I personally use it under my foundation as it is a little dark for me but it conceals all my blemishes perfectly & has great lasting power.

All in all, I really love everything I've recently bought from blogsales. They are definitely my favourite way to get a bargain.

Are you a fan of blogsales? Have you found any bargains lately?

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - 15

Thursday, 4 September 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I'm going to be talking about a concealer that I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with. The Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is incredible but as I'm quite pale, the shade range kinda lets it down.

The concealer comes in lipgloss style packaging, a standard tube with a doe foot applicator.

The shade selection isn't the best, shade 10 is a lot darker than shade 15 but it's still a little to dark for my pale skin. It's an okay match if used under foundation but it has to be medium to high coverage otherwise you can see the difference. It really is a shame as the concealer itself it lovely. It has a really creamy texture which makes it a dream to blend & work with. When applied, it gives a flawless yet natural appearance to the skin. My dark circles & blemishes are perfectly concealed without it feeling heavy on the skin. What I love most about the concealer is that the applicator only holds a small amount of product so you never apply to much but it can be built up without becoming cakey if needed.

All in all, I really do like this concealer but I wish the lightest shade was actually light enough for my skintone. I will continue to use it to finish the tube but hopefully Maybelline will revamp their shades in the future.

If you have any concealer recommendations that are suitable for pale skintones then do leave them in the comments below.

Ebay Bargains - Photo Keyrings

Tuesday, 2 September 2014

Hey Dolls.
This year I am making my dad a stocking as he hasn't had one since he was a child & I personally adore them. I was having one of my usual ebay searches for meaningful things I could put in his stocking & I found these photo keyrings. I have already wrapped & put away the ones I ordered for my dad but as I was so impressed with them, I ordered a few more. I thought I'd show you my ones from my boyfriend & my niece & nephews as all the other ones I ordered are gifts for other people & I don't want to include them just incase they read this.

The keyrings are from a seller called cgiepos

You can either select from the provided message & who it's to options or you can create a custom order. There is also an option to choose the colours of the text which I think is a really nice touch. When I first clicked on the link I thought I'd have to print & insert the photo myself but they do it all for you. All you have to do is email them the photos you want to use & they print it on to high quality photo paper & send it in it's own little plastic wrapper to keep the keyring safe from scratches.

Another little touch that I was really impressed with is that if you want to see what the keyrings will look like before they are sent to you, just send them a quick message & they will happily show you.

I have been incredibly impressed with all the keyrings I have ordered. The quality is absolutely amazing! I can't fault a single thing about them. I am so impressed, I already have plans to order more as they make great gifts for any occasion.
The keyrings are £2.50 each & have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
All you need to do is add 3 keyrings to your basket, after ordering them send cgiepos a message telling them what you want the text & colours to be & then email them the photos you want to use. They give excellent customer service & I'd recommend them to anyone.

You can find the keyrings here
