Goals For 2016

Thursday, 31 December 2015

I don't usually make goals for the new year as I just don't see them through but 2016 is going to be different...I hope. There are a few things that I want to do, not because of the whole "new year, new me" thing but because I just think they would improve my happiness.

1, Save!
I used to be so good at saving money but as I've got older I just end up spending it all. I'm either going to start a savings account or just put all my spare change into a massive jar. I don't have anything in particular I want to save for right now but it would be nice to know that I have the money there if the electric needs to be topped up, something needs to be fixed or even for a small pick me up when needed.

2, More Family Time.
I don't spend as much time with my loved ones as I'd like. I want to make more of an effort to just sit & have a chat with them, little gestures like doing the washing up or making a cuppa & bringing it to them or treating them to a nice day out somewhere or even a takeaway on the sofa watching tv.

3, Blog Photography.
I've really struggled with my photography lately as the weather has been pretty rubbish. I think 2016 is the year that I invest in some lighting. I don't think it's going to be anything fancy but just something that will see me through the dark & cloudy days.

4, Cook More!
I really enjoy cooking but it's so much easier to chuck something frozen into the microwave or the oven. I really want to start making proper meals, even if it's just twice a week. I think it will not only taste much better as I can control what is going into it but I just think it would improve my overall happiness. I mean, who doesn't love a home cooked meal?

5, Discover new places.
I'm a total homebody, I love staying in wearing super comfy clothes & doing whatever I want but sometimes I do quite enjoy going out. I want to eventually travel the world but my fear of heights makes that quite difficult. So I thought I would start with Wales as I'm sure there is a ton of things I'm yet to discover, I think it would be quite fun to stay in a hotel & be a tourist in my own hometown for a day or two. It would be great to find new places to eat, cute little shops to browse & maybe find some interesting facts about the country.

Have you made any goals for 2016?

Christmas Makeup

Sunday, 27 December 2015

Every Christmas I like to make a little bit more of an effort when it comes to my makeup. This year was no exception as I decided it would be a great time to wear some false lashes. I really love how they look but it took me a while to get used to them. I did my usual base, contour, highlight & brow routine but I opted for bronzey gold eyeshadows & a matte red lip to mix things up a bit.

Products Used:
Benefit Porefessional Primer
Gosh Hydrating Primer

The Christmas Tag

Thursday, 24 December 2015

As the lighting has been pretty crap lately, I haven't managed to take the photos for todays post but as I haven't done a Christmas themed tag yet, I thought it would be a good alternative. I found this particular tag on one of my favourite blogs -  Milk Bubble Tea.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
I'm not a huge fan of Christmas movies but I adore The Nightmare Before Christmas & The Grinch.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
I've always opened presents on Christmas morning but next year I want to start a tradition of getting new pjs &/or bedding for Christmas eve.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
The only thing I can think of is actually from this year. My boyfriends mum & I recently decorated some biscuit ornaments together. It was so much fun & they looked pretty great.

4. Favourite festive food?
This is such a hard question! I adore yorkshire puddings but then goose fat roasties are pretty delicious & you can't forget about the cheese & crackers.

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
Last year my dad surprised me with a beautifully scented candle that he picked out by himself. Usually I go shopping with him to pick out things but the fact that he remembered what scents I like makes it pretty special.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
I really love how Costa smells when they bring their Christmas drinks out. I also really like cinnamon & how Christmas dinner smells.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
I'm not sure if this counts as a tradition as it only started last year but my dad & I spend some time together & have a mug of hot chocolate before bed. Next year I would like to start a new pjs/bedding Christmas Eve tradition.

8. What tops your tree?
I bought a gold glittery star to top the tree this year. I adore it so much!

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I can't really remember asking for any extravagant gifts as a child. I think I'll have to ask my dad about this one.

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
Can I say all of it? I love spending time with loved ones, decorating the house, wrapping presents, the food... Okay maybe it's the food.

Have you done a Christmas tag?

DIY Christmas Decoration

Sunday, 20 December 2015

Every Christmas I want to create my own decorations but I never seem to get around to it. This year I have left it pretty late but I've managed to make something I adore with things I already had laying around.

Things I used:
  • Empty ferrero rocher box
  • Battery operated fairy lights
  •  Glittery red & white baubles

I put the battery box & a few of the lights in first & then added a few baubles. I repeated this until all the lights & baubles were in,  moved them around a bit until I had easy access to the switch & put the lid on.

This is a super easy DIY & I really love how it looks. You can use any clear jar or container & put anything in it to cover the battery box. I have a few more fairy light DIYs I would love to make but as we only have a few more days left I might not have the time. Would it be acceptable to make Christmas decerations in January? I think so! haha

Have you made any Christmas decorations?

Christmas Nail Art #3

Thursday, 17 December 2015

While I was having a little browse on Ebay, I came across these gorgeous Snowflake nail stickers. I thought they would be perfect for a festive nail art look that would be super quick & easy. The stickers come in quite a few different shapes & sizes which is great for me as I don't have much space to work with. They also last really well on the nails - as soon as the sticky side touches your nail, it's not budging. I would recommend using a thin pair of tweezers to apply the stickers to the nail as they are quite small, so it can be a little fiddly.

Products I used:

The seller that I got the snowflake stickers from also have a few different designs & colours to choose from. The prices range from £1.30 - £1.50 which I think is amazing considering the quality & lasting power is pretty incredible.

Are you rocking festive nails?

❆ Feeling Festive ❆

Sunday, 13 December 2015

Christmas is my favourite time of the year - delicious food, heavenly candles, family time, a warm & cosy home, festive decorations & the fact that having multiple mugs of hot chocolate in one day is acceptable...well it is to me anyway. Even though I start preparing for Christmas super early [ We're talking January here ] I still get a little stressed which can make it hard to feel super excited for Christmas. I thought I'd put together a little post of some of my favourite things to do to help me feel festive.
  • Buying & wrapping presents.
  •  Making the house look super festive.
  • Light a few candles, turn on the fairy lights & watch Christmas movies.
  • Listen to Christmas songs.
  • Do a little baking.
  •  Attempt some festive nail art.
  •  Make a hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream.
  • Put on some Christmas themed pjs & have a little pamper session.
  • Create a home made decoration.
What are your favourite festive things to do?

ϟ The Harry Potter Tag ϟ

Thursday, 29 October 2015

harry potter glasses & scar photo: harry potter scar and glasses hp.gif

Okay, so here's the thing.. I have started reading through the Harry Potter books again which lead me to start watching HP related youtube videos. I have been watching a lot of people doing the HP tag. I was 99% sure I did this tag but according to my published posts...I haven't. So, that's what I'm gonna do today.

Favourite book?
This is such a hard question as I love all of the books but I think The Chamber Of Secrets is the one I enjoyed reading the most.

Favourite movie?
The Philosophers Stone is my favourite movie. I love how Hagrid breaks down the door to make sure Harry got his letter & gives Dudley a pigs tail for eating the cake.

Parts of the books/movies that made you cry?
I cried when Sirus, Dumbledore, Snape, Hedwig, Fred & Dobby died.

Favourite quote?
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. - Albus Dumbledore

If you could hook up with any HP character who would it be?
...

Favourite characters?
Bellatrix Lestrange, Luna Lovegood & Fred & George Weasley are my favourite characters.

What would your Patronus be?
According to Buzzfeed, it would be a cat.

If you could have the Resurrection Stone, Invisibility Cloak or the Elder Wand which one would you choose?
Who wouldn't choose the invisibility cloak? The brother who picked the wand become mad with power & then was murdered for it & the brother who chose the stone brought back a loved one only for them to be so sad that he committed suicide. I'll just be invisible until my time has come to an end thanks.

What House would you be in?
According to Buzzfeed,, I would be in Gryffindor.

If you could meet any member of the cast who would it be?
That's such a hard question! I would love to meet Emma Watson, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter etc.

Have you played any of the video games?
I played HP & The Order Of The Phoenix on my DS. I didn't like it.

If you were on the Quiddich team which position would you play?
I would probably be a beater.

Were you happy with the ending?
Yeah, the good side won. Who doesn't like happy endings?

How much does Harry Potter mean to you?

I pretty much grew up with Harry Potter, so it means quite a bit. I have always loved getting lost in a good book & this series is one I can just pick up like it's the first time I'm reading it all over again.

Are you a Harry Potter fan? Have you done this tag?

Current Favourite Nail Polishes

Friday, 23 October 2015

I adore dark nail polish shades & I wear them all year round but most brands only bring out new shades when the colder months come around. I recently picked up two gorgeous shades from Barry M that have quickly become a part of my most reached for stash. I thought I would share what polishes I'm currently loving with you all.

Barry M Pit Stop - Light grey.
Essie Mind Your Mittens - Dark almost black teal.
Barry M Sprint Finish - Pomegranate / Deep berry.
OPI Black Cherry Chutney - Deep purple with fine red shimmer.
Maybelline Black Magic - Clear base with various sizes of black & silver glitter.

What are your favourite nail polishes at the moment?

Seventeen Skin Wow Liquid Highlighter

Thursday, 15 October 2015

For quite a while I have been mixing the L'Oreal lumi magique primer with my foundation / bb cream of choice as it gives my skin an incredible glow but as that's coming to an end, I thought I would try to find a cheaper alternative. After reading quite a few reviews, I decided to pick up the Seventeen skin wow liquid highlighter. I've been using it for a little while now, so I thought it was about time I shared my thoughts.

The highlighter is marketed as a multi use product - it can be used as a primer, mixed into foundation or as a typical highlighter. I have applied it in all three ways & I found that mixing it with my foundation / bb cream works the best for me. When I used it as a primer, it didn't prolong the wear of my makeup or disguise my pores & if it's used as a typical highlighter, it tends to move around any product that is underneath. The highlighter is a pearlescent pink shade that has some pretty obvious shimmer particles running through it, so it's best to take the 'less is more' approach with this. When mixed with a foundation or bb cream, the shimmer particles aren't as noticeable - it just leaves the skin with a healthy radiant glow. On days where I haven't slept very well & my skin is looking pretty dull, I have been applying the lumi magique over my primer & then mixing this with my foundation as it gives my skin an extra boost without it being over the top.

So, I didn't manage to find a cheaper liquid highlighter that is just as good as the L'Oreal offering but it's a pretty good alternative. I know this review has been pretty mixed but even though it didn't become my new holy grail glow giving product, I do really like it & will continue to use it. I definitely recommend trying it out, you never know.. you may absolutley adore it.

What is your favourite glow giving product? Are you a fan of the Seventeen liquid highlighter?

Blog Sale Bargains #11 | Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer - Fair Neutral

Thursday, 24 September 2015

Urban Decay is one of my all time favourite brands but that also means that I have a wishlist as long as Luffy's arm when he uses gum gum pistol. The naked concealer was at the top of said wishlist as I had heard some great things about it & I always have something on my face that needs to be concealed. With most high end products I didn't really want to pay full price just in case I didn't like it, so I turned to blog sales & a makeup group on Facebook where you can buy/sell your unwanted goodies. I eventually found someone selling it in exactly the shade I wanted for around £8-£10,  as it had barely been used I thought that was a pretty good price. I have been using it for quite a while now, so I think I should actually get round to telling you all what my thoughts are.

The concealer has a very lightweight but creamy consistency, it glides over every imperfection with ease [take that dry patches!] & blends into the skin beautifully. In terms of coverage I would say it falls into the medium to full category but once it has been blended it doesn't feel like your wearing much of anything & it just looks like you have naturally flawless skin. I have been using this as more of a highlighting concealer as it does an amazing job at brightening the skin but it also works really well on any redness/blemishes I may have. The concealer doesn't come with your typical doe foot applicator, instead it's a flat & flexible sponge tip that has just the right amount of product on it which means there is no double dipping required. The lasting power is kinda amazing - I usually apply my makeup around 10am, fast forward to bedtime it's probably around 1am - 2am..so I didn't really expect my makeup to look that great & for the most part it didn't. My concealer was the only thing that managed to hold it's own against the weather, my constant face touching & a few laughter induced tears. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't perfect but considering it had been on my face for around 16 hours, it looked pretty damn good. What makes it even more amazing is that it isn't prone to creasing, settling into fine lines or oxidising throughout the day.

This is an amazing concealer & I would definitely recommend it to everyone. If you don't fancy waiting until it pops up on a blog sale then it retails for £17.50 & you can get it from places like Feel Unique, John Lewis & Debenhams.

There are 8 shades available:
  • Fair Neutral
  • Light Warm
  • Light Neutral
  •  Medium Light Neutral
  •  Medium Neutral
  • Medium Dark Warm
  • Medium Dark Neutral
  • Dark Neutral

What is your current favourite concealer? Have you found any bargains lately?
