Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation - Light Porcelain

Thursday, 30 July 2015

I have declared my love of Rimmel before, they have some incredible products but I mainly love them for their foundations/bb creams as they are not only amazing quality but actually cater for pale skin tones. My current favourite is the Wake Me Up foundation but I may have found something that is threatening to take the top spot.

I'm a big fan of the original Lasting Finish foundation - the shade, coverage & lasting power is amazing but I found that after a while it felt quite heavy on the skin. So when I spotted the Lasting Finish Nude foundation, I was pretty excited. Rimmel have made some pretty impressive claims that the nude foundation is sweat, heat, humidity & transfer proof for up to 25 hours & as we're having some horrifcally hot weather, I have been able to really put those claims to the test.

When applied the foundation looks very natural on the skin. It has a medium coverage but it can be built up/sheered out depending on what tool you use. I personally like to apply this with a buffing brush & then go in with a damp complexion sponge to make sure everything is looking flawless. I do find that using the damp sponge does sheer it out little but for the most part, I like to stick to a light-medium coverage in the warmer months. If I have some unwelcome visitors & need a little more coverage, I will go in with a small amount of concealer. Unlike the original Lasting Finish foundation, the nude version feels very lightweight on the skin which in turn allows my skin to breath. Even though I baught both foundations in the same shade, the nude version seems to be paler & have more of a pink undertone. When it comes to the claims of it being sweat, heat & humidity proof for up to 25 hours - it's definitely long lasting, I haven't tested it for 25 hours as I like sleep far too much for that but even with the insane weather we have had, it can definitely hold it's own againt the heat. My main concern when I purchase a foundation is whether it's going to work for my dry skin/enlarged pore situation but as it contains a moisturising serum gel - it glides over the skin, leaving it feeling hydrated without sinking into pores or making any dry areas more visable.

All in all, I absolutely adore this foundation. The shade is a perfect match for my skintone, it gives amazing coverage while still being lightweight, it holds it's own againt the heat/my serial face touching & it has spf 20. I couldn't recommend it enough as it has become my most reached for foundation since purchasing it.

Are you a fan of Rimmel? What is your go to foundation when the sun comes out?

Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Pencil & Brush

Tuesday, 21 July 2015

If you're a long time reader around these parts then you will know that I can't just stick to one brow product. I have a little selection of pencils, powders & mascaras that I switch up pretty often. I'm currently switching between the Maybelline Brow Satin & the Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Pencil & Brush. As I have already shared the love I have for the Maybelline offering, I thought it was about time I did the same for the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil.

Much like Maybellines offering - this is also double ended but instead of having a super handy brow powder on one end, it has a super handy spoolie instead. I particually love this as I'm letting my brows grow out, so they are kinda all over the place at the moment. I have the shade blondshell which is the lightest shade available - it is a perfect match for my brows! The pencil is quite thin so I find that I can be really precise & create fine, hair like strokes so my brows always look soft & natural. It's very unlikely that I will touch up my makeup throughout the day, so I like to use products that can hold thier own against the heat or my constant face touching. Luckily the pencil stays put all day long! It literally doesn't budge - I've had this on for over 12 hours & my brows still look just as good as they did when I first applied it.

If you're in need of a good brow pencil or if you're brow obsessed like I am then I definitley recommend trying this out as I literally can't fault it one bit.

Dogtooth Coatigan - F&F
White Tee - New Look
Ripped Super Skinny Jeans - F&F
Black & Gold Sandals - New Look

The coatigan - a little thicker than a cardigan but not as warm as a coat. It's the perfect thing to wear on the days when the weather is having a hard time making up it's mind. There are quite a few floating about in a multitude of different prints & colours but the one that caught my eye the most was this dogtooth print one from F&F at Tesco. The quality is amazing & it is so comfortable to wear. I wanted to keep my outfit pretty casual, so I paired it with a plain white tee, ripped skinny jeans & these gorgeous black & gold sandals.

Aberdare Park

Saturday, 11 July 2015

Yesterday my boyfriend & I decided to get out of the house for a bit & visit a local park. We were planning on having a picnic but then the McDonald's temptation set in.. so we changed our plans haha. It was probably a good thing that we were planning to get the picnic food while we were there. I had never been to this particular park before so when Matt mentioned that there are usually ducks, squirrels etc. I had to make sure I had my camera handy at all times. I managed to get quite a few lovely photos of the birds & I did see a gorgeous squirrel but he was a bit too quick to get any non blurry photos. The park also has some beautiful flowers, they are all in perfectly selected plots. There is also a little play area for the kids & plenty of benches dotted around, so it would be a lovely place for a family day out.

As I was wearing some recent clothing purchases, I thought it would be a great place to attempt some outfit photos. I have only ever taken them in my garden, so the publicness of it all made me feel a little anxious but thankfully Matt was being his wonderfully weird self, so I started to relax pretty quickly. The outfit post should be up fairly soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Before we went home, we popped into one of my favourite cafe's - The Upper Room. Matt & I both tried the Oreo Milkshake & it was delicious! It came with a generous helping of whipped cream, chocolate sauce, chocolate sprinkles & a oreo on top. It may have been the nicest looking milkshake I have ever had.

We really enjoyed our little day out but it is very nice to be home as I made the silly mistake of wearing new sandals on a hot day... my feet are a little sore to say the least. If you live near Aberdare or you're planning on visiting soon, then I definitely recommend getting a lovely drink & a slice of cake from The Upper Room & taking a stroll through the park.

What I've Baught #25 - Primark

Candles £1 each | Throw £3 | Shoes £3

I not so recently popped into Primark & even though I didn't find most of the things I wanted.. I did manage to pick up a few home bits & a super comfy pair of flats.

I adore candles, watermelon & lemonade. So when I saw a million & one posts about the Watermelon Lemonade scented candle...I had to have it! I couldn't find it anywhere but I did pick up the Lemon Verbena & Appletini candles. I got the smaller sizes just in case I didn't like them but I wish I got the bigger sizes as they smell amazing.

I have been after a throw for so long but they are always so expensive. While I was wondering around this Grey & White Triangle Throw caught my eye. I expected it to be at least £8-£10 but to my surpise, it was only £3. I wish I had picked up another one as it's incredibly soft & I think I'm going to use this as a picnic blanket.

I normally find quite a few pairs of shoes I like while I'm in Primark but on this occasion I only found these Black & White Aztec Slip Ons. I did have to size down to a 6 for these to fit properly but they are incredibly comfortable & look great with casual outfits.

What have you baught lately?
