Goals For 2016

Thursday, 31 December 2015

I don't usually make goals for the new year as I just don't see them through but 2016 is going to be different...I hope. There are a few things that I want to do, not because of the whole "new year, new me" thing but because I just think they would improve my happiness.

1, Save!
I used to be so good at saving money but as I've got older I just end up spending it all. I'm either going to start a savings account or just put all my spare change into a massive jar. I don't have anything in particular I want to save for right now but it would be nice to know that I have the money there if the electric needs to be topped up, something needs to be fixed or even for a small pick me up when needed.

2, More Family Time.
I don't spend as much time with my loved ones as I'd like. I want to make more of an effort to just sit & have a chat with them, little gestures like doing the washing up or making a cuppa & bringing it to them or treating them to a nice day out somewhere or even a takeaway on the sofa watching tv.

3, Blog Photography.
I've really struggled with my photography lately as the weather has been pretty rubbish. I think 2016 is the year that I invest in some lighting. I don't think it's going to be anything fancy but just something that will see me through the dark & cloudy days.

4, Cook More!
I really enjoy cooking but it's so much easier to chuck something frozen into the microwave or the oven. I really want to start making proper meals, even if it's just twice a week. I think it will not only taste much better as I can control what is going into it but I just think it would improve my overall happiness. I mean, who doesn't love a home cooked meal?

5, Discover new places.
I'm a total homebody, I love staying in wearing super comfy clothes & doing whatever I want but sometimes I do quite enjoy going out. I want to eventually travel the world but my fear of heights makes that quite difficult. So I thought I would start with Wales as I'm sure there is a ton of things I'm yet to discover, I think it would be quite fun to stay in a hotel & be a tourist in my own hometown for a day or two. It would be great to find new places to eat, cute little shops to browse & maybe find some interesting facts about the country.

Have you made any goals for 2016?

Christmas Makeup

Sunday, 27 December 2015

Every Christmas I like to make a little bit more of an effort when it comes to my makeup. This year was no exception as I decided it would be a great time to wear some false lashes. I really love how they look but it took me a while to get used to them. I did my usual base, contour, highlight & brow routine but I opted for bronzey gold eyeshadows & a matte red lip to mix things up a bit.

Products Used:
Benefit Porefessional Primer
Gosh Hydrating Primer
 Smashbox Hydrating Under Eye Primer

The Christmas Tag

Thursday, 24 December 2015

As the lighting has been pretty crap lately, I haven't managed to take the photos for todays post but as I haven't done a Christmas themed tag yet, I thought it would be a good alternative. I found this particular tag on one of my favourite blogs -  Milk Bubble Tea.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
I'm not a huge fan of Christmas movies but I adore The Nightmare Before Christmas & The Grinch.
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
I've always opened presents on Christmas morning but next year I want to start a tradition of getting new pjs &/or bedding for Christmas eve.
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
The only thing I can think of is actually from this year. My boyfriends mum & I recently decorated some biscuit ornaments together. It was so much fun & they looked pretty great.
4. Favourite festive food?
This is such a hard question! I adore yorkshire puddings but then goose fat roasties are pretty delicious & you can't forget about the cheese & crackers.
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
Last year my dad surprised me with a beautifully scented candle that he picked out by himself. Usually I go shopping with him to pick out things but the fact that he remembered what scents I like makes it pretty special.
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
I really love how Costa smells when they bring their Christmas drinks out. I also really like cinnamon & how Christmas dinner smells.
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
I'm not sure if this counts as a tradition as it only started last year but my dad & I spend some time together & have a mug of hot chocolate before bed. Next year I would like to start a new pjs/bedding Christmas Eve tradition.
8. What tops your tree?
I bought a gold glittery star to top the tree this year. I adore it so much!
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I can't really remember asking for any extravagant gifts as a child. I think I'll have to ask my dad about this one.
10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
Can I say all of it? I love spending time with loved ones, decorating the house, wrapping presents, the food... Okay maybe it's the food.

Have you done a Christmas tag?

DIY Christmas Decoration

Sunday, 20 December 2015

Every Christmas I want to create my own decorations but I never seem to get around to it. This year I have left it pretty late but I've managed to make something I adore with things I already had laying around.

Things I used:
  • Empty ferrero rocher box
  • Battery operated fairy lights
  •  Glittery red & white baubles

I put the battery box & a few of the lights in first & then added a few baubles. I repeated this until all the lights & baubles were in,  moved them around a bit until I had easy access to the switch & put the lid on.

This is a super easy DIY & I really love how it looks. You can use any clear jar or container & put anything in it to cover the battery box. I have a few more fairy light DIYs I would love to make but as we only have a few more days left I might not have the time. Would it be acceptable to make Christmas decerations in January? I think so! haha

Christmas Nail Art #3

Thursday, 17 December 2015

While I was having a little browse on Ebay, I came across these gorgeous Snowflake nail stickers. I thought they would be perfect for a festive nail art look that would be super quick & easy. The stickers come in quite a few different shapes & sizes which is great for me as I don't have much space to work with. They also last really well on the nails - as soon as the sticky side touches your nail, it's not budging. I would recommend using a thin pair of tweezers to apply the stickers to the nail as they are quite small, so it can be a little fiddly.

Products I used:
The seller that I got the snowflake stickers from also have a few different designs & colours to choose from. The prices range from £1.30 - £1.50 which I think is amazing considering the quality & lasting power is pretty incredible.
Are you rocking festive nails?

❆ Feeling Festive ❆

Sunday, 13 December 2015

Christmas is my favourite time of the year - delicious food, heavenly candles, family time, a warm & cosy home, festive decorations & the fact that having multiple mugs of hot chocolate in one day is acceptable...well it is to me anyway. Even though I start preparing for Christmas super early [ We're talking January here ] I still get a little stressed which can make it hard to feel super excited for Christmas. I thought I'd put together a little post of some of my favourite things to do to help me feel festive.
  • Buying & wrapping presents.
  •  Making the house look super festive.
  • Light a few candles, turn on the fairy lights & watch Christmas movies.
  • Listen to Christmas songs.
  • Do a little baking.
  •  Attempt some festive nail art.
  •  Make a hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream.
  • Put on some Christmas themed pjs & have a little pamper session.
  • Create a home made decoration.
What are your favourite festive things to do?
